Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
DS is one (next weekend). In the AM's, after breakfast he sits in high chair and watched noggin while I clean up and shower. It's usually 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.
At night, sometimes we put on a Sesame Street CD (Sesame Sings Kareoyke! or Baby Einstein) and he lays on the couch with DH and relaxes while I get the bath and bottle ready.
Otherwise he doesn't pay attention to the TV if I have it on (which is rare during the day) - I have Bev Hills 90210 at 5 pm while I feed him / cook dinner / etc. otherwise the TV is usually off.

DS is 14 mos. I'll put the TV on in the morning while we're getting ready to leave and in the evening so maybe about an hour or so total. He never really sits and watches a show start to finish and instead will be playing with his other toys and wandering around while the TV is on.

9 months and I can't say he watches TV everyday (unless you count the news I have on in the morning and the evening, but he is generally not interested in that).
He watches maybe 15 mintues a couples times a week, usually when I'm finishing something and he's sorta cranky.

Almost 9 months old...doesnt watch any TV at all....unless the Stanley Steemer Carpet commercial comes on, in which case she stops whatever she is doing to stare!

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
My son is 14 months and never watches TV. I hate it as background noise and he is too little to ask for it on. I am hoping to keep from getting hooked on it.

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
DD is almost 15 months and only pays attention to the TV when the Backyardigans song or Sesame Song is on...otherwise she is too busy playing....
I WISH I could count on a half hour or so of TV to keep her busy everyday, but she's just not interested.

DD is 7.5 months old. During the week she watches the wiggles for about 45 minutes a day when we get home from daycare and I am running around trying to cook dinner and stuff.
On the weekends she will watch the disney channel on and off while playing with her toys in the morning.

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
My DD is almost 2 and loves TV. It's actually ashame that it's a bad habit of mine to use the TV as background noise. She probably watches about 2 hours a day. She has her daily "musts"....ie, The Wiggles, Yo Gabba Gabba, Max & Ruby and usually a DVR of JoJo's Circus. I admit that the TV is on most of the day when I am home but she doesn't sit and watch it---she plays in and out of the room.

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
My son is one..he LOVES tv!! He watches all educational dvds..and really loves them. I would say he watches 2 dvds each day...and 1-2 episodes of wonderpets...so at least one hr a day..sometimes more..but not sitting directly in front of it..he sometimes just glances at it or i stay next to him and repeat what he is learning.

Ditto. My 4 year old watches way too much TV but he is usually playing with his train/toys and not exclusively watching it.

My DS is 11 months old and does not watch TV. I maybe put it on for 45 minutes a day to watch a show if we are home. He basically plays when my show is on and looks a t the TV here and there. He does not have any shows that he personally watches.

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
I don't know b/c I am not home during the day with him, but a lot of the time we do put kids programming on for "noise" but most of the time, unless he is really sleepy, he doesn't really watch it.
ETA: he is 16 months.

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
DS just turned 1. He really doesn't watch tv. I would say at most 5-10 min a day since I sometimes put it on when he drinks his bottle. He really isn't that interested in it - he just LOVES the songs and the music...

I'm also guilty of putting the TV on for background noise. Even DD's favorites like wow wow wubzy and backyardigans she'll only watch for about 10mins before she wanders in and out the living room playing with her toys.
I'm also guilty of relying on the TV to get her to eat during her meals. Somehow the fascination of watching Sesame street or Noggin gets her to eat more, go figure.

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
DS is 14 months. He watches about an hour of the Backyardigans when he first wakes up in the morning (at 6am bc I'm just not ready to get up yet) in bed with us.
That's really all for the day -- if he's super cranky and I need to pass some time I will put on the Backyardigans - other than that - it's play all day.
Oh - I do put it on to change his diapers though - as that's the only thing that will keep him from running around my house bare-butt!

Re: how much tv does your ds or dd watch a day and how old are they
DD (14 mos) probably averages 30 min to 1 hr of TV a day. Some days she watches no TV, and other days she might watch 2 episodes of Jack's Big Music Show or Blue's Clues.
I find now that I'm back at work (teacher), I put the TV on for DD as I get ready in the morning. I feel so guilty about it (but I know I need to get over that!), but it's the only way I know she's occupied and I can get ready.
I do think DD would watch TV all day if I let her, though!
