How much was your roof?
I know prices will vary for size of your house, but I was wondering how much you all paid for a new roof. This includes removing 3 layers of the old roof. We got our first estimate and will be getting more estimates soon, but I have no clue if I am getting good prices or not.

Re: How much was your roof?
We paid $8k for the removal of 2 layers and a new roof on a 2000 sq ft home (ranch).
ETA: that was back in 2001

Re: How much was your roof?
We paid about $5200 this year with the removal of 2 layers. Sorry I don't know the square footage but we have a cape.

Re: How much was your roof?
We paid $3,000. They did not remove any layers. It was the 2nd layer.

Thanks! The price we got was similar to this one... $5100. Does this sound about normal? (Sorry I don't have the square footage, but we have a small-normal sized split ranch)

That sounds about right. My mom had three layers of roof removed and a new architectural shingle roof installed and her price was about the same (she has a fairly small house).

Re: How much was your roof?
Your quote sounds like its in the ballpark. WE got estimates to remove two layers and put a new roof on for about $6200, and we have an 1800 sq. ft. hi-ranch.

Re: How much was your roof?
I have a split. We had ours done last spring and paid $6000, that also included new gutters and ripping off the old roof. I don't know how many layers were on there.

Re: How much was your roof?
We just got this done in Feb.
We have a ranch, it had 2 layers of roofing and a leaking chiminey.
$4250 to rip off both layers, 3 free boards of wood, applied on arcitechural roof, realigned the gutters and put in a sunroof (we bought the sunroof, they dropped in and boxed out. We have to finish the inside work). They also religned our chimney with silicone and fixed some flashing.
They guarentee work and labor for 1 year. He said he'd come back even if it was after one year for free. There was not one speck of old roofing on my lawn when they were done. Everything was cleaned perfectly!
FJR Affordable Roofing - they were wonderful. Frank (owner) 516-433-0400. They will match or beat competitors too.
They also let us buy our own wood, since we knew we had a leak and would need more than the three free boards they gave us. He had no problem letting us buy our own supplies and save money.
Good Luck.
editing to add chimney work and i found his number!
