How often...
Do you get a Sono? My doctor did one at every appointment and we just switched to a new place where they said we'll never do one again unless there's an issue. Not even an ending growth sono. I'm a little disappointed that I won't see my LO again until the big day.

I definitely don't get them every apt at my OB's office. They did a dating sono at 8 weeks but I'm not sure if they would have if I didn't say that I thought my ovulation was off. I had a 12 week ultrascreen, another at 16 weeks for genetic testing, then there's a 20 week growth sono. Beyond that, I'm not sure what's standard since I had GD both times and got tons of sonos due to that. I'd venture to say that it's very uncommon to get an US at every apt.

Mine too, just to check the heartbeat. For whatever reason they don't use doplers

6wks, 12 wks, 20wks, 32wks. From what I understand the less the better. If there is no need to have one, there is no medical reason for it

Re: How often...
Same here. I posted about it maybe a month ago. I got a sono in the very beginning at 6wks & 8wks. Then i had anatomy scan at 18wks. I was told no more unless there's an issue. Not even a growth sono, which does upset me. But i know it's really not recommended to get too many so i guess its good that we're not overdoing it. Still dissapointing though. Definitely had more at my last OB with #1

I had a bunch in the beginning because I kept spotting, but haven't haven't had one since the anatomy scan. I'm having a grown sono at 36 weeks but only because I asked for it- my office doesn't normally do another one.

Honestly, once you hit a certain point, you can't even tell what you're looking at bc the baby is bigger and all curled up.

You can always do an elective/3D sono if you want to see the baby.

Re: How often...
for DS1: after the first tri I only had sonos at 16 weeks, 20 weeks and 35weeks.
DS2: every appointment
I went to different practices both times so I guess it just depends on how often your particular dr. wants to do them.

Re: How often...
With my first, I had 8, 12, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36. But that was only because I have fibroids that they had to monitor. Otherwise, 20w would've been my final sono.
With my second, I had 8, 12, 20 and 32.

Yup -- mine too. No doplers. Although a few of the sonos have been VERY quick i.e. last time, the Dr. looked, listened to heartbeat for a moment, showed me spine and said amniotic fluid level looked good...and that was it.
