How often did you feed your 2 week old? UPDATE

DS started out the day so great. Had his bottle, slept, another bottle and his normal 3 hour nap (11-2).
Drank 2 more oz took a cat nap and has been up since 4:30 this afternoon. Snuck in maybe 1 cat nap. His diapers are fine, he's burping but still seems hungry..He drank another 4 oz then an hour 1/2 later 2 more oz.
What can it be? Dr. gave me an Enfamil sample today that reduces spit up. I have been using Enfamil Lipil (spit up one also has Lipil and same ingredients but rice is added). I thought he's be more full?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. DH has him now and hopefully he will go to Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

UPDATE 1-31: DH gave Bryan 2 oz of his formula he has been using all along and Bryan fell asleep at 10:30. He made some cooing noises through the night but didnt get up until 6AM..He slept through the night. The poor kid was exhausted! This AM he drank 3oz at 6 and another 3 at 9 and is asleep again. I keep going to check on him and he seems to be ok. My heart broke so hard for him yesterday. I am not going back to the new formula. That is pretty much a definite.

Does he have a reflux problem or did the ped. give you the AR formula to "keep him full"? Because the whole cereal in the formula thing is a myth from what I know. I say just feed him on demand the regular Enfamil unless he has reflux and requires the AR formula. They grow so rapidly and need to eat on demand. It'll get better, I promise!

I agree with Rachel. I found that when DD was that young I was too into following the "guidelines" and wasn't feeding her what she needed.

At 2 weeks old my DD was eating about 3 oz every 3 hours. Her belly was like a clock. I found that when I was only giving her the "recommended" amounts she would eat more frequently. Once I realized that she was still hungry I started increasing her bottles by a 1/2 oz. That usually worked for a while. Then when she needed to eat more frequently again or was drinking & finishing the bottles really fast and didn't seem satisfied, I would add another 1/2 oz.

She's 8 weeks and eating 6 1/4 ozChat Icon But she's happy and growing!!

He could be cluster feeding. Lots of babies do that. You really can't overfeed an infant and they will stop sucking (usually) when they are done.
