How often did you give DC pain relief for teething?
Orajel or tylenol. How many times a day/week and for how many days/weeks? ETA: what else did you do for pain relief other then orajel and tylenol?

DS has 8 teeth and I think we have only given him Tylenol/Motrin once or twice. Never used orajel.
The only time we did give him anything was with the 1 year molars.

whenever they needed it -
I could count on one hand the number of times I'd give it during the day ......neither of my kids were complainers re: teething.
but if they woke up in pain in the middle of the night, I had no problem giving them tylenol/motrin.

Never Orajel. I would give Advil either at night or if a frozen washcloth or the mesh teether you stick a banana in wouldn't do the trick. I didn't want to give it to hi. All the time because I didn't want his body getting immune to it. That stuff is liquid gold.

As needed, usually every night during a bad teething bout. DD is a tough cookie with so many things but teething makes her a mess. There was a tooth coming in that had me giving her tylenlol or advil every night for two weeks... I felt awful but DH kept saying it was cruel to leave her in pain if we had a way to help her.

I use the Hylands teething tablets, only have had to use them 2x day, usually morning and night. MUCH easier than orajel.... and WORKS

This is my thought too. I wouldn't want to suffer through it if it were me so I offer her the same relief. When DD was getting her first two, you could set your clock by her. Every 4 hours she lost it for a few days so I saw no reason to hold off on the tylenol.
It's tougher when the symptoms seem to come and go for weeks. I debate every night whether or not to give motrin.

I give motrin at night when needed. One week she needed it about 3 nights in a row. I didnt have a problem giving it. During the day I only give her teething toys and frozen teething toys or washcloth to chew on. Only 1 day did she seem so uncomfortable during the day i gave a dose of tylenol but that was only once. Shes worse at night. And i tried orajel naturals once or twice but didnt see any difderence so i never gave again. Motrin worked better for pain relief for my daughter than tylenol. Its stronger and lasts 8 hours.

haven't given orajel cause I think I heard it can toughen the gum?
gave #1 hyland teething tablet, but wasn't there some sort of recall or something on them? So I haven't tried on #2
Motrin I use for fevers, so I would guess tylenol, but we haven't tried that yet...

Totally agree. My DS is getting all his teeth at once and if he has his fingers in his mouth and is not himself I give him advil. I try and go by his mood and not give it every day but I don't want him to be in pain or uncomfortable. Lately we have been giving it once a day but no the full dose.

Re: How often did you give DC pain relief for teething?
As long as he needed it... He was a hard teether and it took forever for a tooth to pop through.. As long as it isn't more then the recommended dose, there isn't much of a problem. He mainly got it at night.. Only Tylenol because he is allergic to Advil and Motrin. Ok'ed it with my pedi... I also used Hylands teething gel.
