How often do you feed your dog?

Once in the morning and once in the evening. His breakfast time varies because sometimes he gets up really REALLY early and won't calm down until he's eaten, but his dinnertime is always about 5-5:15.

We feed our dog once per day. Is that bad?
We feed her wet food at night (around 6 pm) and when she finishes it, we put some dry food in there in case she gets hungry at another time.

Not at all... every dog is different. And you leave food out for her so she can "graze" at her leisure... sounds good to me!

he gets breakfast and dinner and on weekdays (because we're gone for most of the day) he gets a kong filled with dry food at lunchtime

We free feed (have the bowl out & available all day) so they just eat whenever they get hungry. I know it's impossible to do this with some dogs, but it's never been an issue with ours. We've been doing it since we got them, and both are at a healthy weight.

We free-feed as well. Lilly gets about a cup and a quarter throughout the day. She'll only eat what she wants. If she's not hungry, she won't eat. We were like food nazi's when we first got her, but have done a total 180 and are very lax about her feedings now. If we notice her bowl is empty, we'll refill it. She doesn't overeat and is at a very healthy weight. A whopping 11.4 pounds.

I was wondering about free feeing. Is this something that should start as a puppy? Rufio gets fed twice a day but by the time I get home he's jumping all over like he's starving (his pot belly says otherwise) but I was wondering what the best way to get into doing this would be?

When I fed them 2x they would not eat one of the meals, so now it's only once per day.

Same here our gets fed once a day when we get home from work but then it sits until she wants to eat it.

We do this as well but also give her dinner at night (chicken, chopped meat, rice, etc.)

Bella's food is down all day long. Sometimes she will eat in the morning, otherwise she will eat her dinner right after us. We tried feeding her on a schedule but she wouldn't eat, so we just started leaving it down. And now she can eat whenever she is hungry.

Bella is going to be a year next week (8lbs) and we usually feed her 2X a day, 1/4 cup at each sitting. As she is getting older though, she sometimes just eats once a day and it varies on the time. If she does not eat her breakfast, we just leave it there and always keep food in the dish for her to nibble on if she does get hungry.
Every dog is going to be different and on a different schedule.

I feed him once a day, b/c he doesn't eat in the morning, i found. I may begin stuffing a kong for the afternoon though, just so he's not starving by dinner.

We feed three times per day, a total of four cups for a 70 pound dog.
We were feeding twice a day but we found he had terrible gas and one of the suggestions was to feed less food, more often. It's much better now.

we feed max 3x a day. a total of 3/4 a cup dry. He is on a diet and it seems to have helped him loss the weight he needs to. he is a pug and he was 28lbs now he is 23lbs he has a few more pounds to go. I have been excersing him too.
I feel bad to give him such a small amount of food, but to be honest he really doesn't beg for food anymore since we feed him 3x.
we feed him in the am, then at dinner time, then i leave just a few bites for before bedtime.
When I fed him 1 cup a day 2x a day he would beg alllll the time for more food.
I also give him some string beans boiled at dinner time as a filler. the vet said it would be good for him since they are loaded with water and no calories, but will make him feel full.

I do the same, for the dog and for the cat. They are both normal weights and happy animals!

She gets crunchies in the AM and then when I get home from work. I tried to feed her only in the AM but she would beg when we ate dinner so now I break it up evenly in the AM and PM. She's a spoiled brat!!
