How often do your kids go on play dates?

and how old are they?

Do they normally go to other kids houses or do you host?

Call me an old meanie but I hate play dates during the week. My kids and I don't get home until 4:30 and then there's homework, dinner and sports. I cringe when they get invited but I usually say yes. My kids know that I don't host play dates during the week thank goodness, so they don't ask.

Oops I guess I went off on a tangent. so to answer your question...

My boys are 6.5 and 8. They go to about 3-4 play dates a month and we host about 1 play date each month for each kid (usually on the same day.)

My 6yr old about 4 times a month
My 4 yr old and 3 yr olds probably about 8 times a month. I belong to a few mom meetup groups, and usually will host about once a month.

Once a week (Fridays) or on the weekend only.

We'll host or they'll go to a friends. It varies.

They're 8 & 10 yo

My oldest is almost 7. We typically only do playdates on Friday and not even every Friday. I feel bad and wish he was around his friends more (esp in the cold weather because on warmer days we at least go to the park and see other kids) but when you don't get home to 4 and you have hw, religion, sports and activities, and 2 other kids one being a baby- it is just too much for me. Weeekends we are running so much we never get playdates in.

For my older DS- During the week, none at all. But he does come to the center where I teach dance twice a week and he plays there and has activities. We have parties or play dates probably 3 out of 4 weekends.
For my little guy- He doesn't really have play dates yet, but we take music class once a week. We also have lunch with my friend and her DS once every other week on average.

My kids are almost 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 and they usually have a play date a week and a party or two per month on the weekend for their friends. As for hosting we both have people here and we go to other people's homes.

my kids are 4.5 & 2.5 ... the 4.5 year old is in school 5 days a week full day. so we don't get to do playdates with him often, except for the birthday parties he goes to... he has therapy after school 5 days a week so it makes it hard.


my 2.5 year old has about 2-3 playdates a week.

sometimes more, sometimes less... we host, we go to friends houses... drop off playdates or her friends are dropped off here..

she also goes to school 2 days a week, and goes to the gym daycare with me, so she is always with friends and kids her age.

we are not home bodies except on the weekends when daddy is home...

Fridays only.

I'm hosting a playdate right now.

My boys are 6.5 and almost 10 years old.

It varies week to week. Sometimes I host, sometimes they are invited out.

Since going to kindergarten, play dates have happened less and less. There is just no time with school and extra activities like sports and piano. He is doing lacrosse and basketball with several of his friends, though, and there always seems to be a party on the weekend. When the weather is nice, a bunch of us try and meet up at the park, but actual play dates are pretty rare right now.

Hardly ever but I am working on it. She is supposed to call her friend tomorrow. I used to gtg with her friends and their moms last year and the year before when she was in preschool. Now that she is in kindergarten, I feel like I don't know anyone. I babysit and twice a week I have an almost 5 yr old she plays with and she plays with my friends kids alot so its not like she doesn't interact with other kids, just not from school often.

We probably average 1 per week b/c DD does gymnastics and often signs up for enrichment that the school offers.
Although our car pool buddy stays at our house just about every day we drive home so I guess that counts.

3-4 times per week but usually with the same friend who lives down the street. He just runs down the street (with me running after him...LOL) and sees if his friend can play that day. Then they decide if it will be at that house or ours and sometimes they run back and forth.

I want to start reaching out to other boys in DS's class so maybe trying two - four "scheduled" playdates a month.

Honestly, hardly ever. We just do not have the time. She does, however, play with her cousin 2-3 days out of the week and i think that is perfect for her. I just feel like 5 is too young to have a busy social life outside her family. She does go to bday parties, but for the most part, we stick to family for now.

Almost never...SD is in an after school program until 6:00 M-F and has art or extra academic activities for a good chunk of Saturday. On Sundays DH takes her to church and she sees her 'closest' friend there, and the 'sunday school' is more like babysitting so they get to hang out and play.

Occasionally on Saturday afternoons she has a play date with the church friend...but not that often.

My son is 6 and he has 2-3 playdates a week. I love playdates!

I have a group of Mum's who are on the school run everyday and the kids are all friends, and I have a few friends whose kids go to other schools so we have dinner playdates (having one tonight!) that was we can have a gossip. If the kids are coming from school with me or another mother, its a great opportunity for one of the mothers to have a break or something.

My neighbourhood is a bit like Queens, so we can all walk to each others houses, its easy.
