how often is open house info updated?
i saw a house on mlsli (not for me) that advertises an open house on saturday. someone i know said that the seller has an accepted offer and they are going into contract. this doesn't make any sense to me. Can they do that? I mean, have an open house even though they've accepted an offer?
i wouldn't question this so much if it were just a house LISTED on mlsli but this specifically advertises an open house this weekend. Something seems a little off to me. what are your thoughts?

I don't understand how it works, but I am about to sign a contract on a place that still has an open house listed for this Sunday. I keep checking but it has not been taken off... not sure what that means.

Re: how often is open house info updated?
Sometimes the owners will still choose to have the open house if the contracts have not yet been signed - because deals can still fall through even if they have an accepted offer and the sellers are just covering their azz.
Also - they could also choose to still do the open house as a last resort to see if anyone else is interested in the property. Kind of like the last hooray.
I have also known open houses to be done if the seller was not fully satisfied with the accepted offer and wanted to see if anything better came along.
Or - the agent could be lazy and just have forgotten to take down the Open House - it does take about 24 hours to hit/come off the public MLS site - so I would def. check the morning of.

Re: how often is open house info updated?
If the contracts have not been signed, any other offer could still supplant the original offer. Most of the time, people don't have open houses (unless the offer arrived after the open house was already advertised and planned), but realtors keep showing the house.
Deals often do fall apart before, and even after, the contracts are signed, so the owners need to keep their options open.
