How old was DC when left them home to go on vacation?
DH and I are thinking about going away next February. My DC will be 9 months. DH wants to bring the baby, but I think he/she will be too little yet. We were planning on a 5 day, 4 night trip to possibly Puerto Rico or Montego Bay. I work in the schools, so booking in advance is better for pricing and I know we can't change our mind then. Of course I will get trip insurance.

DS is 2 1/2 and I still have not left him to go on vacation. I have been in the hospital without him but that was certainly not fun.

My girls are 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 and we have yet to leave them for a vacation. Just recently(within the last 6 months, so my girls were 2 &3 years old) we left them at my dads house overnight but her lives 3 miles away I am not personally ready to leave them yet. But we lost our first child so that might play into my feelings

DD had her first overnight just two weeks ago at 10 months old. I HATE being away from her.....especially since I'm not with her all day because of work.

not yet but mine are 8 months and almost 3-i would definitely go somewhere if the opportunity arose and had someone to watch them though. i asked my co-worker this question the other day and she told me her boys were in high school by the time she and her DH went away w/t them

Never.....I would not have a good time traveling without my children. I know this as I have had to travel for conferences before and I detest being away from the kids expecially at bedtime. During this season of my life vacations are for the entire family....Disney in August for us this year. Can't wait!!!

DS is 10 months and we've only left him overnight once. Not b/c we don't want to go away... just no vacations planned.
BTW... we took DS to Aruba with us at 9 months and he had so much fun playing in the water and on the beach. It was the perfect age.

I went on vacation alone (to a destination wedding) when DS was 4 months. I left him with DH and MIL. DH and I may do Puerto Rico this summer and we WILL be leaving DS with my mom or MIL. DH wants to take him, I don't. I want the time for us.

Her 1st trip was to FL for a family visit she was just 3 months. We have been up and down about every other month since and she's 2&1/2.
Our 1st trip w/o her she was 20 months old. We dropped her off w/ my family in FL and went on a cruise alone for 6 days.

We haven't, they are 4 and 5 years old. The biggest problem is that my ILs and my dad live OOS, and my mom works FT so we don't really have anyone we can leave them with.

Thanks for all of the responses! For some reason, I feel it might be easier to leave my DC when he/she is still young. The option to take DC with us is open as well. My TA said that we would just have to pay taxes for the flight and we can decide later. My DH hates to sit on the beach all day so he thinks it would be fun with DC. I guess we are also lucky to have all of our family very close by. I'm going to see what prices come back and go from there.

we are doing an OOT wedding in May in New Orleans-- Sasha will be 15 months.
We did a little trial last month, where we put her to bed, and then stayed at a hotel, so my mom woke up with her-- but it wasn't THAT different than us being there.
I am very nervous about it!!

We took our children on vacation pretty much right away. Never gone away without them, and have no plans to. I can't do it.

We still haven't gone away alone yet - we have a two night trip planned in Oct. That will be the first (older DS will be over 3, younger son just turning a year)

Chris was 14 months when Chris and I went to Italy for 2 weeks
I would go without the baby--by that time u will need a break and I personally think its easier to LEAVE them when they are younger
Now that Chris is almsot 3 I know he is so aware if we are gone and i feel guilty

I swear going away with DH sans baby makes us feel 10 years younger it's such a great feeling, of course you miss baby but it's so much work to bring baby away too!
we are also planning on vegas in sept. DS 1 will be 2 yrs and DS 2 will be 4 months old
