If you were buying a crib for a vacation home

That will be used a few times a year - would you get a really good one - or go for the cheapest?

Does it mean that it's bad - when it's cheap? I'm not being stupid - just wondering if the less expensive ones meet the criteria.

Diana, my crib cost $120 at BRU and we love it, and it goes to a toddler bed too.

I would spend $200-$300. I would still want a good crib even though it might not be used so often. Plus maybe your cousin's little one's could get use out of it if they ever visit.

If its a new crib it should still meet all the safety criteria, even if its cheap. I wouldn't get an expensive one.

Wow - really?

Well, considering the ONLY store around their house in Walmart - that's where I'll be doing my shopping! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh, let me know what you wind up buying. We're looking to buy a crib for MIL's house , but DD will be using it a lot since she watches DD 3 times a week, we want something affordable but still good quality.

You must be so excited for your trip Chat Icon

Walmart had like 2 or 3 cribs...one for $100, one for 150 and one for 250. They looked OK, definately doable for a vacation home. We were looking for my mom's weekend house. We ended up getting a toddler bed for $50 and I am really surprised at how well made it is!

Why cant you use a Pack and play?

If its only gonna be used for like 3 times a year and hes gonna be out of it within 2 yrs? For 6 weeks max of use, seems like a lot of money to spend?

What about those mini cribs they have...I forgot who sells them now of course! Chat Icon

When we had DD, my parents (who live out of state) bought a crib for $100 at Walmart. It's great for when we visit! With the bumpers, we never have any problems. My dad puts it together when we are coming & dismantles it after we leave. It's perfect!

As long as it is made well / safe I would go for a cheap one or one moderately price with hopes you will def use it again in the future.

BC right now he plays in the pack and play, and I don't want to screw up his sleeping. I don't rock him anymore - he goes in awake - and may think it's still "playtime"

We are going to be there a few times a year - and he's not going to be my only child so I think it's a good investment. Walmart has them for so cheap that I'll be able to get the crib and mattress for under 200.

Re: If you were buying a crib for a vacation home

My crib cost $50 and it's just as safe as a $500 one Chat Icon I would stick to a cheap one, they all are required to meet the same safety standards.
