How soon do you see a difference once they're on amoxicillin?

A little concerned it's not working for her....

Tuesday night she started her first dose...woke up next day with 103 then it hovered around 101...then peaked back up again at 103 yesterday afternoon. She seems almost like she's in more pain now than she was before...had a bad night (for her) last night. Moaning and groaning and woke up once screaming.

I know the doctor's gonna tell me to not worry until she's been on the meds for 72 hours...but it almost seems like she's getting worse rather than better.

When do you see it making a difference? She's been on it now for 48 hours...

I hope your LO feels better soon! I would have thought you would have seen a difference too! I would call PED as soon as the office opened.

DD had an ear infection 3 weeks ago and DS had one last week. They were both on amoxicillin and I saw a difference within a couple days. I'd call the ped...she may need something stronger!

usually within 2-3 days...

although ..we have noticed with DD more times than not than amoxicillin doesnt work for her...so now we always start off with something stronger. Her and amoxicillin just dont work.

Thanks ladies.

She was on amoxicillin for her first ear infection back in late winter/early spring. Seemed to clear up, and then another started up right after it, so they put her on augmentin, then we 'thought' it wasn't working and they went up to that awful even more stronger one that reeked havoc on her tummy.

I was hoping it would work this time but I'm guessing it might not be strong enough.
