How to book a disney hotel vacation and can you get hotel brochures/a video to view the hotels?
How do you book a Disney hotel vacation? What are the options for this? Anyplace to get brochures to view the hotels? I prefer to see real pics on paper, not online.
Years ago they would send you books or brochures or a video, that's what I refer to.

You can request a DVD which comes with a small booklet, but it really doesn't have hotel pics. Can I help you narrow it down?

You can go right to WDW website. They have a free DVD you can order (and in fact if you do sometimes they will send you personal emails or postcards with private codes for discounts).
As far as books - you can go to the library but I don't really know any books that have good photos. I like the Unofficial Guide to WDW but honestly it doesn't really have any photos just good information.
Your best bet for photos is online. Some resorts have whole websites devoted to them (i.e. tikiman has a Polynesian one - then there is portorleans.org - for Port Orleans moderate resorts. That site has maps, tons of photos and even updated info on rehabs etc.
There are several ways to book. If you want someone to do all the work there are TAs that specialize in Disney - AAA gives some discounts but I don't recommend them - their TAs were supposed to be disney experts but they knew less than I did and actually gave me completely incorrect information (luckily I knew it so I didn't rely on it). But if you can find a good one they can be helpful. If you do this route make sure they are willing to check for discounts and that they will make the changes for you without you having to call and repeated remind them to get you the discount. Some TAs are great about this others aren't. Also the advantage of using one is that you don't have to get up at 7am to make your ADRs at the 180 day mark for somewhere very popular (but again some TAs don't do this so ask before you book). Make sure they are disney certified.
You can book yourself directly through disney. You can do it online or on the phone (the phone cancellation policy is better than the online one so you are better to just call and do it over the phone - it is really easy. You can price trips out online and then call and book them. If a code comes out you just call them and give them the code and they will adjust it for you. I personally prefer to book myself only because I enjoy the planning and I like to have control over my booking in case I want to make changes etc. But that is all about personal preference.

I actually just saw this over on Disboards - it looks like it might have some photos you could see if they have it in an ebook or at your library.

I'm like you and love to have things in my hand. Unfortunately anything you do find on paper will not have the pictures, etc. that you can find online. www.allearsnet.com shows pictures of each and every resort, in great detail!
