How to get baby food stains out of bibs and burp cloths?

DS is now on solids and all of his bibs and burp cloths (I use to wipe his mouth when he eats) are all stained. How do I get them out or not to stain at all? Would soaking in biz do it?

I washed them, but still used them even if they were stained. That's what they're for.

If you wash immediately after it helps, but those stains never came out for me after they set for a while.

Try soaking in Arm N Hammer Washing Soda- soak overnight in a mixture of that and warm water.
Then wash as normal.
It helps a lot.

I use the baby oxy clean in the spray bottle. It usually works pretty well. I spray it on the stain, let is sit for a few minutes then I wash with dreft lol

Just wash as usual in the laundry with bleach and detergent, hot water. Works great

Not sure how to get stains out but just a suggestion when I feed DD solids I use plastic bibs. Much easier to clean Chat Icon Chat Icon

I washed them for about a week and then gave up.

Switched to the plastic bibs - with the pocket
and wipe her mouth with a napkin

Trust me, it is a lifesaver! I just have to wipe the bib down after use and wash it once a day or so!

Try spraying the stains with Oxy Clean
Spray Away when it first happens and wash with Tide Free and Clear. For the existing stains use the OxyClean powder with Tide Free and Clear and wash with either Hot or Warm water.

Mix two scoops of OxiClean with 1 gallon of hot water and soak for a few hours or a day...works like charm!

Re: How to get baby food stains out of bibs and burp cloths?

Thanks for the suggestions.

I know it's what they are there for (I was going to post that disclaimer in the OP) but I don't want DS to go out with stained bibs and burp cloths Chat Icon

I'll pick up some plastic bibs, all we have are cloth ones.

I will check out that stain stuff, I think we actually have some sort of spray stuff.

And I'll start washing them with the towels in hot. hopefully that will help!

I thought about using a paper towel or napkin but wasn't sure if it was too harsh for his skin. We already wipe his drool so much, I don't want to irritate his chin anymore.

Oxyclean makes a stain stick that I use on bins, burp cloths and clothes and it works great. I have been using it since day 1 and none of dds clothes are stained.

I use the plastic bibs and they are defiantely a lifesaver, but my DD was a "happy spitter" and a "happy pooper" for that matter! Rinsing in cold water and then spraing with oxyclean or any sort of spray stain remover always took them out 99.9% of the time!

Some of her bibs which I thought were total goners came clean as new :)

plastic bibs...once solids start I retired the cloth bibs Chat Icon

I use spray and wash with resolve spray and clorox 2 with detergent..usually in 1-2 washes (if washed that day) it comes out...

BUT

if all else fails - I always figured it is ruined anyway so if I bleach it and the color gets faded (which it doesn't always believe it or not) what is the diff...ruined by food or ruined by bleach?!?!?..at least with the bleach I know it is clean! KWIM!?!?

I put oxy clean gel on some of the really soiled ones, but most of them are stained.

Now I mostly use the (BPA-free) wipe-down bibs. They're so easy to clean!

Baby oxy clean in the spray bottle works the best, I'd just spray throw it in the machine and than wash whenever I did the next wash. However I'd only do it for things I really really liked, its not worth it for most bibs imo that's what its for.
