Not sure how to post on Petfinder, but that's a pretty good place to start.

ETA: Or maybe look into Ragdoll rescues?

you can try your vet also. Ragdolls are a very popular breed. You can also try posting on your facebook. You'd be surprised who may be looking for a pet. I have a lot of rescue contacts on my facebook. If you give me a picture and a good bio of your cat I'll be more than happy to pass it around.

I would try to avoid craigslist...you'll get nothing but wackadoos and a lot of hate mailChat Icon

She wrote above it's a female ragdoll cat, I believe.

Re: How to place a pet for adoption?

I'm trying to find a home for a dog that DH and I found. Here's what I've been doing:

-Contacting every single person that me, DH, and my parents know and asking if they can help to get the word out.

-Asking coworkers if they are interested. Many of them are helping to get the word out.

-Contacting shelters (pretty much in any place because we are willing to drive or fly the dog if that means he gets a great new home) and many of them are able to post courtesy listings without us having to surrender the dog to the shelter (which we won't do)

-Contacting animal sanctuaries and inquiring about their facilities

Many of the shelters will do pre-screening for you of any potential candidates. I would also suggest doing a screening yourself by asking people if they would let you visit the space where the pet will be living, if they have/have had any other pets, and asking if you can get a referral from the vet that they use.

We used CL to rehome our Himilayans (also a popular breed) when our FB and friend pool got nowhere. Yes, we got some crazies who were obviously collectors, but no hate mail at all. Our DD was allergic and I suppose people understood that.

We required a 75.00 rehoming fee for both, or 50 each. THAT alone cut down on the collectors. We also interviewed and visited possible homes.

We found a nice home for them with a family.
