Re: How will you prepare differently for the next storm??
we are having a generator installed into our house to run our house.
With 2 small kids and a husband who works 12-16 hours during these things... i think it's necessary.

How will you prepare differently for the next storm??
Battery operated phone charger.... and going forward just making a box with all things needed for an emergency... you just never know anymore.

Re: How will you prepare differently for the next storm??
I'd get some gas cans and fill them and few bags of ice Other than that, we were prepared, I had food on hand that didn't need refrigeration and packed bags for me and the girls...when the power went out, we picked up the bags, the bucket of food, emptied the fridge to a cooler and headed for my parents bc they had a generator
If they weren't here, I'd want to have had a generator...

Have a bag packed to leave. Start earlier buying supplies. By Thursday of the week before the storm it was tough to find D batteries and we are still having trouble getting them. Find out which neighbors will be home.

Did everything I could. Got gas, cash, food, batteries, flashlights, candles, filled the propane tank for the grill. I have a 2 burner propane stove (used for camping). I wold get more propane for that. It helped out a lot. Used it more than the grill.
Maybe get a generator. I agree. We were pretty well prepared. The only thing I may do differently is it a generator.

Re: How will you prepare differently for the next storm??
I feel like I was very well prepared this time. The only thing I may do is preserve gas a bit AFTER the storm. I did a lot of driving around to check on people and Rob drove out to help his mom and some friends when I was at work. It left us with very little gas and HUUUUGE gas lines.

We were very prepared- both cars had full tanks, we had water, non-perishables, cells were charged, we had candles and flashlights. We're definitely getting a good quality generator and we plan on having cans of gas on hand.
