How would you explain "bad words" to a 2 year old?

So this morning Ryan was throwing a plush ball in the air. Every time he threw it he would say "Oh Shoot". First time it was funny. Second time it was blah, third time I said to myself "Oh sh!t"

Anyway, I said to him "Oh shoot isn't a nice word. Say "uh oh" instead". So he threw the ball and said "Uh oh..Oh shoot".

Who knows where he got it from. And it isn't the worst thing in the world he could say. But I would prefer him not saying it anymore.

How would you explain to a 2 year old they shouldn't say it?

With Logan who is about Ryans age, I have found that if I actually ignore the word & make no big fuss at all over it, he looses interest in the word.

is he saying the S word? or shoot?

I'm in the same boat my 2 year old says Oh S too often and Oh F I have no clue how to get him to stop. when he says Oh S, I say "oh no" hoping he says that. I just totally ignore when he says Oh F, we don't say that so I am hoping he will forget it!

ETS someone beeped at me once (didn't see him) and I said Oh EFF! now everytime the kid hears a horn beep he says it
