How would you feel if you worked with a friend who didn't tell you your employers had "reservations" about the kind of work you do?
I worked with a friend of mine ( good friends for 5 years) prior to my going out on leave. She was my "Team leader" until she accepted another position. I've been here for almost 1 year now. Was out on maternity leave for 4 months, recently returned (October 16th) and am NOW being told the people I work with/for have had reservations about my work all along. I was also told that I am being compared to my 2 co-workers who they feel "get the gist of the work" better than I do. She also told me that they gave me 2 people that have less work because of it. In one breath she tells me "the process takes awhile to be pulled together mentally" and then says "but they feel you should know it by now regardless of whether you were on leave or not. you should have taken your binder home and studied". What point would that serve if I wasn't working on anything???
She also told me that I should "start looking for something else before they fire me".
Now let's keep in mind here I had my mid year and end of year review and it was FINE. No complaints, nothing was told to me, so hearing this I'm and quite angry.
Never mind the fact that I didn't get a chance to do much before I left because I was:
1) on probation for 3 months which was up in March
2) they hardly gave me anything to do once they found out I was PG. I was more "helping others" than anything
3) they took a lot of the work away from me because I would not be able to see it to the end.
My co-workers have been taking a BEATING w/the work while I was out because my friend accepted another position while I was out and they only had those 2 to work with. So.. YEAH they are going to know it better than I do right now because they did A LOT OF IT!!!!!
I just don't understand people sometimes..I really don't. What a way to ruin my day and to shoot down my ego. Some friend...
While I appreciate her telling me, at the same time I can't help but feel angry that she didn't tell me this BEFORE I came back, because I would not have come back.
ETA: I really don't understand her backing up what they said because she is currently looking to leave the firm herself because they screwed her over.

WHO told you this? Your current supervisor, or your friend who took another position?
Is she your supervisor? Did she get promoted to a higher position now?
I'd address your concerns with HR honestly. You deserve to know where you stand.

My friend told me because the recruiters called her. She told them they needed to take it up with my counselor.
No she's not my supervisor she was on our team but left to another department in a higher position but is looking to leave.
I addressed my concerns with my counselor - aka my boss and she was LVID!! I didn't tell her who said it, but she was not aware of anything....
