HSG test - what to expect?

I had the blood work done yesterday and am scheduled for the HSG test on Friday. I was wondering if it hurt at all?

Re: HSG test - what to expect?

I had one and its not too bad...LOts of pressure more than pain. You will feel some cramping when they shoot the dye in but its like a bad period cramp. You'll be fine. Take Advil 2 hrs before and then one hour before..if you do a search there are some other posts about this especially on infertility

Re: HSG test - what to expect?

I had one last friday.... For me it was VERY uncomfortable...... the pain/pressure was nothing like anyone explained to me... I'm an xeay tech so when I used to do those procedures I thought, these girls were overly sensitive, boy was I wrong... It also turned out that my right tube is completly blocked, due to colon surgery I had 3 yrs. ago.. The Doctor said it probably hurt me b/c he was really trying to shoot the dye and trying to open the tube.... good luck and let us know how it goes...

Re: HSG test - what to expect?

Thanks for the advice to take the Advil...I definitely will.

I'm kind of nervous...but it hasn't really hit me yet. I've had some medical problems in the past and needed sonograms/scans, etc. so I've survived stuff before. I'm also glad its quick...I was nervous about it taking a long time...

Hopefully, the results are good!
