HSG tommorrow. What to Expect?
For those who had this what was your experiences? Is it going to be as painful as many say? Is 1000 mg of Advil really enough? I feel like I should take a pain killer Will there be cramping afterwards? Is dye going to leak outta me...ok...I'm a little freaked (can you tell?) Did you bring anyone with you? My DH cannot leave early and come with me.
How soon after HSG can me and DH start BDing again???

Re: HSG tommorrow. What to Expect?
I had some cramping (just like menstrual cramps). They went away after about 30 minutes. The Dr. prescribed painkillers to take beforehand and I still felt alot of pressure and some pain during the procedure. The HSG took about 10 minutes for me. I bled lightly for about 2 days afterwards.
The hospital policy was that I had to have someone there with me, so DH was there to drive me home. I was told not to BD for 24 hours.

I went alone, and it was fine. I took motrin before hand. There was a few minutes of intense cramping when they injected the dye but then it is over. There is a small amout of discharge after the procedure. Good Luck!

Re: HSG tommorrow. What to Expect?
From what I have read everyone has a different outcome to HSG. I had mine yesterday and for me it was awful. I also happened to have a blocked tube, which I heard was more painful. The good thing about the pain was, it immediately subsided once the procedure was done (Thank God) and the procedure truly only takes a few minutes. I had some minor cramping the rest of the day and bleed for the rest of the day as well. I took three ibuprofins, an hour before, not sure if it helped or not, but take something if you can. I went alone but wished I brought someone just for support really. I was able to drive back to work with no problem.

I took Motrin before and after and it was painful for me. It was like having really bad mentrual cramps and I had NO blockages.

Re: HSG tommorrow. What to Expect?
I took advil before, but my procedure got pushed back a few hours so i'm not sure how much was still in my syste.
Mine was not painful at all and I didn't have any blockages. Everybody is completely different, but I was expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised.
good luck

Re: HSG tommorrow. What to Expect?
I took my mom and DH with me...yeap I'm a big baby
I took some advil before hand. For me it was nothing more than some bad menstrual cramping for a few secs. I worked myself up into such a frenzy and it really wasn't that bad and I'm a chicken. I had no blockages though. My BFF had a blockage and she said it hurt like heck but everyone is different. Defintely take a strong pain killer before hand. Good Luck!

Re: HSG tommorrow. What to Expect?
I went by myself - didn't even occur to me to bring someone with me. I took 3 Advils an hour before. I had a blockage and it was pretty intense cramping for a few minutes but it pretty much subsided as soon as the procedure was over. I was told not to BD for 24 hours.
Good Luck!

Re: HSG tommorrow. What to Expect?
I took two advil and a xanex beforehand (I'm a big ol' wuss) it was uncomfortable and I felt cramps, kind of like really bad AF cramps that only lasted a couple of minutes. The entire procedure itse'f once they had the everything in place (and even that was fairly quick) took only a couple of minutes. I had some cramping (not so bad) for a couple of hours and had some light bleeding for a day.

Me too... it was very painful for me when he inflated the little balloon thing to keep from any leaking.. I almost jumped off the table. The next three days I felt like someone beat me up inside. Everyone is different though.
