Huggies wipes - Pampers much better for DD

DH bought hundreds of them at
Costco -they smell great - Cucumber melon or something.

However, DD is having a Poop problem the last few days and her tush is raw. Well, I used the huggies wipes and she first did this inhaled sound of irritation and then let out a SCREAM. So I took out my old thing of Pampers wipes and she was MUCH better. Go figure.

I can't use Desitin on her either without a scream when it hits the red area. I'm using Vaseline. I hope that heals it.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon sorry your DD is having tush issues.

Wipes are a personal thing, so if the pampers work best, then use them.

I don't know that vaseline will help a rash tho, I've used Triple Paste or Butt Paste when DS has a rash.

Re: Huggies wipes - Pampers much better for DD

The Baby Vaseline (the one that smells like baby powder) says it's for the treatment and prevention of diaper rash... although I'm skeptical too... but I don't want to torture the kid. Bad enough daycare hasn't been putting ANYTHING on herChat Icon ... well they also told me she had diareah all week... I don't know... she had several dirty diapers, but I wouldn't describe the clump as diareah. In fact she turned red and screamed every time she pushed. I did notice on the last one that there was some "liquid" surrounding the clump - but couldn't that be pee?

I would get Butt Paste or Triple Paste. IME vaseline will prevent a rash but not heal it.

Huggies wipes are sooo much thicker than pampers, I love them!

Aw! Sorry about the bad rash! Hopefully it'll clear up quickly.

I love Huggies wipes. Maybe after the rash goes away you should give them another whirl.

They may be thicker, but I'm not lying - they must contain something that irritated the area.

I'm not beating anyone up personally for using Huggies, please don't misconstrue my intentions. I was just venting b/c as most of us know - it s*cks to know your baby is hurting. Anyway, once the issue with her poop goes away, I may resume the huggies until they're gone. Then we'll just stick to Pampers, in fact the sensitive skin one's seem great - I had a free sample of those. No, not as thick, but still quite functional and no loud baby screams. She may have a little abrasion by her "poop place". I think that's what's going on... all the pushing.

No one was saying you were....but maybe it is the scent and you should use Pampers Sensitive or something like that?

I would suggest Butt Paste for the rash....it's gotten rid of any rash in a day or so for my daughter.

Pampers are better for us as well. I mostly still use the sensitive. But the Swipers are good also.

The Huggies ones I need to use more, they just don't take the poop off the tush. I have to 'scrub'Chat Icon Chat Icon

It may be a reaction to the wipes. A while back I'd picked up Huggies overnights for my son. He developed a bad diaper rash, nothing was working. The pediatrician prescribed some special paste that didn't really do much. I didn't realize it was the Huggies until a few days later we forgot and put Pampers on him for night too, and the next morning he wasn't as red. A few days later of only Pampers and and the rx paste and the rash went away.

After that our pediatrician said to only use Pampers products on him since we know he doesn't react to those. He said it wasn't worth risking a reaction to generic products.

I ended up giving the diapers to my neighbor for her grandkids.

Chat Icon Chat Icon In any case I hope it gets better soon.

Kristina just had a HORRIBLE diaper rash....

The doctor wound up prescribing Bactroban for her (the rash got so bad so fast that the spot that was in was actually raw Chat Icon )

I had to stop using her Huggies wipes for a bit also.... There is def something in them that is harsh to the rash. But her ped told me to use the Bactroban, then on top of that use Triple Paste, and follow by a sprinkling of cornstarch.

Where you may not need the Bactroban, I would highly suggest using the TP..... Works WONDERS!

Diaper, wipes and lots of poops - advice?

I bought the Butt Paste (Stop and Shop didn't have Triple Paste), well, at least she didn't scream when we applied it. We'll see if it heals the rash. She's still pooping more than once a day - which is a little concerning since she's supposed to have her vaccines tomorrow (already late), but they won't do them with diareah. I mean not to be too TMI, but despite the fact it's more than one dirty diaper a day - throughout the day (today was 3) - it's not "runny"... it's more pasty. So I'm not sure what to do? I figure I'll keep the doc appointment and discuss.

Could it be b/c she's a week overdo to start cereal? We waited b/c of the diareah daycare said she had. I bought both - the oatmeal (b/c she had those clump poops) and the rice cereal (b/c they told me she had diareah). Doctor told me to hold off initially b/c of the diareah b/c it would be hard to tell if the cereal wasn't agreeing with her or if she had an allergy. Could her body just be ready for something "solid"? Or could this be from the Soy formula? She's been on soy since daycare said she had diareah per the doctor's instructions.

I don't know about the cereal thing, but diarreah can be a side effect of soy. I'd bring a dirty diaper to the appointment tomorrow. Just drop it in a ziplock, the docs are used to looking at them, I had to bring them in a lot when we were testing for blood in his stool with my son's milk allergy.

Let me tell you what the doctor told me.... Kristina had a tummy virus and was having serious diarrhea... it was bad - 3 diapers in 5 minutes bad..... Chat Icon Chat Icon Ergo the wretched diaper rash....

Her ped told me to feed her as normal, and to make sure that she was drinking pedialyte as well to replace her electrolytes.

She was having oatmeal at the time, but her ped told me to revert to rice for the duration of her diarrhea so that it could help to bind her up.

He also told me to feed her some banana.... it would help to bind her.

How long has she been on the soy formula, and what was she on before that?

Pasty poop is normal. Watery poop is not. Is it watery? The AAP doesn't even recommend solids until 6 months, so I don't think her body "wanting" solids is the reason. I agree with the PP in taking the diaper to the doctor tomorrow and she what he/she thinks.

See, we had not tried anything other than formula yet. She was on Similac Advance and doing great on it. When Daycare said she had diareah (I didn't see any diareah - but they made me take her home) the pediatrician told me to put her on soy formula until it subsided. I have no idea what is up with her tummy - Is the definition of diareah at this stage a certain number of dirty diapers? Her BMs have always been "loose", afterall she only eats formula. I wanted to start the cereal, but the doc suggested waiting for diareah to pass. I also want to start on a weekend so that I can monitor her - I don't trust daycare with this stuff.

I hear ya - but I have noticed that she's definitely still hungry after she has her bottles sometimes. I'm sure waiting won't do any damage.

She is 4 months and is drooling lately and "biting" her fingers. She likes that teething ring thing that you put in the fridge. Seems to calm her so I want to say - yes, it's possible she's teething.

Soy can cause diarhea so maybe that's the problem. I would switch her back and see if it improves. If she had a virus, it would be gone by now I would think.

I would put $$$ (that I don't have now Chat Icon) down that she's teething! K's first 2 broke through right around the 4-4.5 month mark.
