Huh??? Glucose in my urine......
I just got back from the doctor and I was told that I have glucose in my urine. I know that there was a post a few days ago about this, but the thing is, I didn't have anything particularly sugary for breakfast (Kashi cereal and soy milk). The nurse said the glucose level was 500 when it was supposed to 0! I am a little nervous about this b/c I really don't want any problems. The doctor said we will watch it for the next couple of weeks.
Has anyone had glucose in their urine without eating sugary food? Also, obviously besides limiting sugary foods, is their anything I can do to avoid any problems with this?
TIA

Re: Huh??? Glucose in my urine......
I dont have any glucose issues but I will tell you this.. This has been my experience my whoe life.. ANYTIME pregnant or not I eat cereal and milk no matter what I get hypoglycemic.. I start shaking like a leaf in about 3 hours after eating it and I am ready to faint.. I need something to bring my sugar back up.. So the thing that is happening is its raising my sugar to a abnormally HIGH level and then after the 3 hrs it dropping to below normal.. It never fails it happens every single time I eat it.. If I have an egg or soem substantial protein with it I am ok.. but the cereal ad milk is a killer for me..

Wow, interesting you should say that. Before I was pregnant, I had issues with cereal making me nauseous, not feeling right. After being pregnant, I felt pretty good eating it. But maybe my sugar level and cereal are related too. Thanks for the input. What type of cereal did you eat? Was it sugary cereal?

No never sugary.. Cheerios regular and mostly Kashi like you with skim milk or 1%.. It happens to my sister too and she is the one who pointed it out to me.. She is an RN and explained why it was happening.. She told me to eat protien with it and it should help from going so high to so low.. HTH
