Hulu Plus v. Netflix- worth it to have both?
DH and I dumped a lot of cable channels a couple weeks ago and my kid has been missing a couple faves. So I signed up for Hulu but it seems like there's lot of overlap between the two- is this the case? Does anyone have both? There are a couple shows I'd like to see on Netlix but they don't seem to be on Hulu either. For 8 bucks it's worth keeping for my DD so I may be answering my own question but I'm wondering if anyone had input. Thanks!

We got rid of cable almost a year and a half ago. At first, we had netflix, amazon AND hulu. Netflix has been AWESOME!!! Amazon is considered free because we have prime and we got that NOT for the tv and movie aspect but for the shipping since we buy a lot from them. The tv and movies are just a bonus. We tossed hulu because honestly, if we wanted to catch up on a tv show that we missed the other day, we can a) go to the network's website (fox, abc) or b)find another way (hint hint, wink wink).

Just simply yes...
Netflix is great for movies and to catch up on past seasons of shows, hulu is great for current programing. We were able to dump cable TV completely

Honestly I would do netfix and amazon prime. Netflix is great for movies and some shows, but I find amazon prime is awesome for kids shows! Hulu is hit or miss for me because a lot of the shows I want to watch are either up for a few weeks before I have to pay for the plus or it links me to another site to watch it.

Lots of current shows you can watch for free on hulu for 3-4 weeks so if you want to watch Scandal or CSI that's something to think about. You don't have to pay to watch them before a certain time, but you do have to wait a day or so to get it. Also depending on what you watch abd, cbs, and nbc are good about offering the episodes online the next day as well.

Completely agree. I even have Amazon Prime as well.
ETA: It still saves me about $150 a month from cancelling cable.

we gave up cable back in 2010. we got netflix... streaming only
netflix, network websites, and other websites have kept us happily watching what we want for less than $10 a month!
we love it
