Hunter - socks Q?

Another hunter boot question. Do you need to buy the socks that they sell? if so which ones are best - the cuffed ones or the regular ones?

Am I really considering spending $40 on a pair of socks?

Do these ever go on sale?

Anyone have the chocolate color and if so do you like them?

I have the gray boots with the yellow fleece socks - they fold over the boot. I bought the socks for a pop of color and so I could wear the boots during the winter/in snow. If you don't plan on wearing them when it's cold out, you can def skip the socks.

I got mine thru shoes.com...I pretty sure they were less than $40...
