Yes, if you wear the hunter boots without them you will freeze your little tosies off. Trust me I know, one time i left without them on and I had regular socks - my feet were freezing.
I wear mine with low socks and the Boot Socks. Its a habit of mine, I also wear my Uggs with socks.

I love the socks. Do you have to buy them...I suppose no, but you need to wear socks all the time to prevent blisters & thick for cold weather.

I bought the fleece ones and don't love them because they are very bulky at the top so it only looks good with certain things. they are warm but I do wear them with regular sock underneath.
This year I bought cable knit leg warmers and boot socks from Marshalls and they are awesome with my Hunter boots (and way cheaper). They just peek out the top, which I like, and they are super warm. I only bought the legwarmers because they didn't have the color I wanted in socks so I wear them with regular socks and around my foot so only my toes stick out and then up my leg....i'm still super warm!
