Huntington Hospital Coverage Group
I found the info:
Dear patient:
We would like to take this opportunity to inform our valued patients that all the obstetricians in the Huntington area, on staff at HH have joined in a hospital coverage arrangement. Suffolk OB/GYN Group will also be participating in this hospital call coverage group as of APril 1st.
All the doctors in this coverage group are highly qualified, experienced, board-certified obstetricians. The names of the doctors in the coverage group are as follows: Dr Callan, Dr DelRosario, Dr Goldman, Dr Granoff, Dr Schneider, Dr Lustberg, Dr Scanlon, Dr Singer, Dr Wagner, and Dr Siegel.
Blah blah blah stuff just thank the patients....blah blah blah...
I hope this helps all the HH ladies out there...
Incidently, the doctor whose practice that I left is on here AND he never let me know about this...

Re: Huntington Hospital Coverage Group
Wow, that is pretty weird. I wonder what happens if you are scheduled for a c-section, do you get your regular ob? For me, since it was my first baby and I was terrified of having a c/s at the last minute, it was more comforting to know that my regular dr was delivering my bundle of joy, but I guess you always have to be prepared for anything

Re: Huntington Hospital Coverage Group
I think if you are to be scheduled you will have your OB..but should you just go into labor..one of your doctors might not be oncall at that particular day.
Im a little nervous b/c one of these doctors I DO NOT want to have...If I call and this is the doctor that is oncall I will go to another hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im serious.........I have to drive past St Catherines any way..we'll just pull in there.

Re: Huntington Hospital Coverage Group
Not all doctors are joining this group. My ObGyn decided against joining this. He feels he doesn't want to miss the joy of the delivery after spending the last 9 months with us. He said it is the best experience and he wouldn't want someone else doing it. It made me feel so much better. There is also a doctor in the letter that I wouldn't let touch me ever. He is so skeevy, I went to him when he was partners with my ObGyn and he basically tried to steal my doctors practice. He had his mother call me and tell me my doctor retired and I have to use the skeevy doctor. It was a total lie, my doctor just changed offices because this guy was such a snake. Needless to say I would never let him near me or my child.

Re: Huntington Hospital Coverage Group
They are all phenomenal docs ( I know a few of them personally) and honestly, the docs do so little, be more concerned that you have good nurses, docs are usually there for about a total of 20 min from start of labor to delivery.

Every doctor has to have some arrangement in the event that he/she is unavailable. In fact, if the doctor was up all night on some sort of emergency, there are ethical guidelines that would prevent him from handling another delivery.
My doctor's office gave me a letter outlining the office policy in this regard. I am actually glad that I have had the opportunity to meet my doctors partners during my office visits. My C-section will be scheduled with my doctor, but anything can happen at a time that he is not on call. No doctor is on call 24 hours a day.

My doctor doesnt even deliver babies any more!! For me, getting through the pregnancy was the important part...
It used to be that, if you were part of a group, that one of your doctors were going to be oncall...so in that sense things have changed for the larger practices at Huntington...But if you see a dr. that is in single practice, not much has changed....of course noone can be oncall 24/7.

Re: Huntington Hospital Coverage Group
I saw Callan two nights ago and she didn't tell me about this. I'm really annoyed.
