Hybrid SUV's...
...Anyone have one?
Any good/bad reviews?
I'm not too educated on what's out there yet. My lease is up in July & I wanted to look into them, you know with these crazy gas prices & all!

The Ford Escape and Toyota Highlander come in hybrid's.
We are seriously thinking of getting the Civic Hybrid.

I am friends with since my bf is in the car industry many Toyota and lexus mechanics. They all love the highlander hybrid. I might lease it this december because I want a small SUV for the snow but dont want to pay a monstrosity for gas weekly..

Well my husband dose work on a lot of the import cars and he says he would hold off on the hybrids till they are out a little while because they have had many problems with the hybrids. The hybrids that have been out for a second year are your better bets.

There have been a number of newpaper articles and news stories that you might try to find. For the average driver, the increased cost of the vehicle is not offset by the gas savings. And they use a lot more gas than people realize. DH and I were surprised.

i have the lexus hybrid suv - i have had it for about 6 months - no problems
it is so quiet and easy to drive
the highlander is the same thing only bigger - has a 3rd row which i don't need so i didn't want that one
they get good gas mileage but not as good as i thought -i average around 23 around town - hat is what my car tells me - it gets about 25 -28 on the highway but i am never on the highway
watch out with the escape - i initally turned off to it based on its 0-60 was very very slow - and that is important with short entrance ramps onto highways

don't have or know anyone that have a hybrid but i'm sure majority of people of starting to look into buying one for gas purposes only! i've even thought about it

I looked into the Lexus Hybrid SUV (I have an RX300 and LOVE it)
The dealer said it (and all hybrids) only kicks into hybrid mode in stop n go traffic or under 20 mph. Otherwise you use the same amt of gas as a regular SUV.  And isnt worth it. I commute 50 mi 4 work so it didnt make sense for me.

i actually think it does better on the highway then it does around town - you are not going under 20 that much
stop and go traffic it works the best in

Yes, read today's Newsday in the car section. A hybrid Honda only gets 5 more mpg and increased cost of the vehicle doesn't warrant it a good buy in the long run.
