hyperstimulation question

Hi everyone!

Today is my third day of stims - I started 450iu of Follisitm on Friday. I thought that was really high to start off with, and when i went for my blood work and sono this morning, my doctor told me that my ovaries look great and she even saw over 20 follicles ALREADY!

She said she thinks the follistim might be high - she is going to review my blood work today and possibly change my dose tonight

i have been having cramps in my stomach - dont necessarily feel bloated, but just feel like i did tons of sit-ups.

I am so worried about hyperstimulating - i even told my doc about it

anyone have any experience with this? How fast can it happen? what are the symptoms?

I really don't want to have to cancel this cycle and i am hoping everything is ok, i am just getting nervous

i hyperstimmed last cycle and it was a nightmare. i def felt really bloated before O for a day or two - it literally felt like i was carrying rocks around in my ovaries. however the worst comes after you O - when the corpus luteum release fluid. that was OHSS is. i was super bloated and thirsty for like 5 straight days. i could barely bend over to tie my shoe and i felt really uncomfortable all the time. i was so thirsty but when i drank water it just made me so much more bloated and uncomfortable. it did resolve itself though after 5 days - i think i only had a mild form of OHSS. i was on 150ius of follistim, so 450 sounds really high to me, but obv we are all different and it totally depends on your protocol overall. the worst was that my follies didnt go away by AF, so at CD3 I still had like a 30mm follie as well as others, and i had to do 3 weeks of BCP to clear it up...

are you doing IVF or IUI? if its IVF thats a good response - since they want as many eggs as possible. if its IUI then they will want to slow you down otherwise too many mature eggs could cancel the cycle.

you said you had over 20 follies - do you know the sizes of your largest follies? if you have a lot that arent maturing and a few that are you should be fine. i wouldnt be surprised if she calls and lowers your dose though. you should also find out what your e2 was when they call.

I am doing IVF - she didn't even measure any of the follies today because i have only been stimming for two days and she said she was more concerned with the blood test results. I guess maybe they will start measuring them next week?

I am so sorry you had to go through all of that! that sounds absolutely horrible. I have been feeling cramps since i started the shots, and i mentioned all this to my doctor - i guess if she saw something on the ultra sound that gave her concern she would have told me?

I will definitely ask what my E2 levels were when they call tonight - should they be high or low?

I am just so nervous i want everything to go smoothly!
