I agreed to let Jake get a cat- update!
I figured it was cheaper then a new mustang
but I am so not a cat person- but it's a kitten so maybe I will think it's cute

Re: I agreed to let Jake get a cat
Honestly if you arenb't a cat person, get a tabby cat (tend to be orange) They have the best temperment and are less cat like
Kittens are huge responsibility and SCRATCH LIKE HELL. North Shore Animal League is where my family has always gotten their cats. They are adults, come from someone else's home who was nice enough to bring it there and tend to be much more "chill" good cats.

I trained Lucy to be a lapcat...I could be bending down to grab something on the floor and she will jump on my lap It's cute and annoying all at once...but she sure does keep me warm on these cold winter nights
Have fun...do you know if it's a boy or a girl?

Re: I agreed to let Jake get a cat
Cats are great My sister is not a cat person either and has a 15 year old dog, but the cat across the street adopted them and spends more time at their house than the owners. She actually said her next pet now is a cat

YES! Boy urine is also MUCH stronger than girl urine.

Re: I agreed to let Jake get a cat
I wasn't a cat person until I adopted my 2. Kittens are so cute, I'm sure you'll grow to love it. Definately not as much maintenance as dogs which helps if you are both working and stuff. I know this doesn't work for everybody but just what I've heard, cats can be mischievious and get bored, when we adopted I was told to consider getting two at the same time so that they can keep each other occupied rather than them occupying themselves by scratching at your furniture and doing other things. So that's what we did. Taking care of two isn't much more than one and I can defiantely say that they really aren't that mischievious and they really are like pals. Just a tip, but I know living in an apartment could get tight. Good luck!!!

Re: I agreed to let Jake get a cat
love kitties!!! wait till they purr in your arms..
they will own you Beth..watch out..
BTW- I would get two so they have company all day. My two babies are brothers from the same litter.
and don't get pure kitties, get them from North Shore or some other place like that.

Re: I agreed to let Jake get a cat
I love cats, but make sure you are ready for a 20 year commitment. My childhood cat just died last year at 18, and we decided to not get another because I am not sure how it would act when we have babies. Make sure you do the research.

Re: I agreed to let Jake get a cat
ok- here's an update- we are getting a 2 year old persian - white and fluffy on monday
which I have to admitt is more my style!
and Jake also asked if I would go look at a new saleen tomorrow- ( we would trade the other car we have in for it- so no extra payments)
but still- what the hell am I getting out of this deal?

he at least wants to look at the new saleen truck- which I think is a much better option- being he almost died hitting black ice!
