I am a bad mommy...UPDATE
With all this talk I see on the boards about Easter Baskets, I am starting to feel guilty for not getting or making one for DS. I got him a gift (A little einsteins DVD) and plan on coloring eggs, but I did not make a basket for him. I feel terrible cause I made some for other kids and not my own. I didn't do it to intentionally leave him out, I just don't know what to put in it. This kid has it all. I am overloaded with books (all kinds including coloring books) He's too young for candy. So that's why I didn't make him one. I've seen the already made baskets at rite aid and eckerds but they seem like they are for older kids.
Am I a bad mom?

You are not a bad mom at all. I am not making a basket for Michael either. I did buy him some DVDs & a book but on Sunday morning I am just going to give them to him.

Re: I am a bad mommy...
You still have time I am doing it because I plan on doing it every year and want to keep the tradition going and have those pics.
I put candy in Andrew's He loves his candy. I also have some little cheesy toys that I bought at CVS. He doesn't know any better yet.
Maybe just get a basket with some peeps and the DVD in a basket. And some little things. If you feel guilty.

You are not a bad mommy
I have yet to make an easter basket for my DD's. They already have 5-6 easter baskets waiting for them in NY, they don't need anything else from me. I'm taking advantage that they dont quite get what's going on yet.
We're dying eggs on saturday and that's about it. I have one big basket here for the family.
ETA: We dont' wake up here on Easter morning, so the easter bunny visits my mothers house.

Re: I am a bad mommy...
No way are you a bad mommy. When I was growing up I never got anything for Easter except maybe a chocolate bunny from a family member. I never heard of toys and gifts.
I didn't make one for DS either, he's two but he doesn't know the difference.

Re: I am a bad mommy...
Not at all!!!!
DH is Jewish and DS will be raised as such. My girls spend Easter with their Dad (it's suppose to be every other but they do a big family thing and I dont want them to miss it so I let him take them every year.) I havent done baskets for them in years...
I just didnt think to do an Easter basket for Caden... Ive started to feel bad b/c I dont want him to miss out etc..but the truth is he wont know the difference this year any way.

No you are not at all! We are doing nothing for DS this year, not even a gift, but he is only 3.5 months, so he will never know. There is just too much going on in our lives and with our families at the moment.

Re: I am a bad mommy...
It's not I don't want to do it it's just that I don't know what to put in it. But I like the idea of it being a tradition and to start it young. I don't recall getting easter baskets when I was young except for a chocolate Easter bunny. Maybe I'll go out today and see if there is anything left to grab.

That's why we didn't do it for him last year cuz he was 10 months old and really wouldn't know the difference. But he is 21 months now and I feel this is the time to start. Even though he doesn't understand it now but one day when he's older I want him to have that memory.

Re: I am a bad mommy...
He has gotten Easter baskets from other family members so he hasn't really been deprived of anything.
The only guilty part is that he's gotten easter baskets from other people and not his own parents???
OK I think I am seriously changing my mind and going out today and making a basket...

No, you aren't. My DS is only 3 months, so I am really doing it more for me than for him. It was a family tradition in my family that I want to continue with him.

Re: I am a bad mommy...
You're not a bad mommy at all. I shipped my DD's basket & Easter stuff to NY (where we're headed tomorrow.) I know she has no idea what it's for, but I do it more for me than her. It makes me happy to get her stuff. Last year I did 2 baskets: one with books, little toys & DVDs and one with candy (for me & DH ). I know she doesn't need any more books or toys too, but I just get a few little things. I felt the way you do at Christmas though. I didn't get her too much stuff since she was getting gifts from everyone else too. I felt bad though. Next year I hope to go nuts with gifts (as long as we're living in a bigger place by then )

Re: I am a bad mommy...
I'm not this year because DD is only 2 weeks old and has no idea what it is anyways but fully intend to start next year ... put together a small one and you def don't have to include candy, my SIL makes baskets with just fun stuff and things her kids need (one is 15 and the other is 19) but she also has a 10 year old. For the two older she will put in DVD's , cologne, a fancy pair of boxers or razors and maybe 2 easter bunnies. They love them!!

Re: I am a bad mommy...
I'm glad to read that you'll put something together for him. It really is a fun tradition to start.
All I did for Andrew his 2nd Easter was a basket with plastic eggs (with NOTHING in them!) and a stuffed bunny. No candy at all. And he loved it!

Oh I will do it. I'll put bubbles, coloring books and little trinket toys.

That's how I feel. That I'm doing it more for me. Especially since I never got Easter Baskets growing up. I want my DS to have what I didn't have. I don't want him to deprived of any tradition...
