I am a little sad and confused
So I guess it is true every cycle is different. I figured out today I am about to do my 6th IUI, this is how it has gone so far;
1. Femara - 2 eggs 2. Femara - 1 egg 3. Femara/Follistim - 2 eggs 4. Femara - 2 eggs (had to drop follistim this cycle bc I had leftover something) 5. Femara/Follistim - 3-4 eggs 6. Femara/Follistim - 1 egg
What the eff, why do I only have one egg this time? Dr. B said 8mm lining which he said is grade A and the eggie is 23mm which is great.
I have always had great cycles and O on my own with an egg, my issues are Hashimotos disease (on meds) and slight thyroid antibodies, slight NK, one mild copy of the MTHFR.
So this all makes me sad, I know one good egg is all you need, but I feel discouraged AND secretly I wanted twins or triplets and even though that is greedy of me I wanted the other chances.
Now the confusion part. one cycle ago I had the immune panel which revealed the above issues, Dr. B put me on a lot of supplements like metnax, anti-oxidants, greens plus...He said he believes my issue is a slight egg quality issue because my FSH was 9.3 and over 10 is high.
Now I was curious why he only mentioned that to me one cycle ago instead of 6. Well today I asked to check my TSH (thyroid) and FSH levels and my FSH was 5.3 which they said is great. So could the supplements really have worked in a month?
And to top it all off I am sad because of insurance this is my last cycle with Dr. B until January when I switch insurance and get out of network benefits. So I am sad I have to leave him but hope desperately I never see him again unless it is at Starbucks, even though I think he is great!
I guess I just feel like complaining, I am mad I injected myself all week for one egg I would have had on my own anyway.

I'm sorry! I have hashimoto's too and JUST started on levothyroxine 2 days ago. I am hoping this helps me, but I am going to starting going for acupuncture, hoping that this will give me added benefits....I hope this last cycle will work for you!!

Re: I am a little sad and confused
When I was ttc dd, every time I did clomid I always had 4 and 5 follicles and than I'd have my iui and get a bfn. My last iui I only had one but it was big 23 and I got pg with dd. You just never know. Your lining and follie size sound perfect to me.
Best of luck!!!

I actually found out I had this in March (when I first went to Dr. B) and have been on the Levothyroxine since then, also been doing acupuncture since October 2010 weekly.
It's funny I didn't really feel bad before findiing out about Hashimoto's, and don't feel it has changed me much, except bringing my TSH from 5.5 to 1.45.
BUT Dr. B put me on my supplements and now I feel a lot better less tired and sleeping more soundly!
I was so shocked to find out I had Hashimoto's and not too pleased I have to be on meds for life.

Thank you, I would LOVE for this to be the case with me! This makes me feel a teeny bit better.

Re: I am a little sad and confused
we have such similar issues it is scary lol
i never responded to clomid but with femara and the injectibles i had some follies at least..one month 2 one month 1..one month i had like 6 and i have no idea where that came from lol..none of it worked
they dont like where my ovaries r in my body lol
we will be doing ivf
i figure this way..i may inject all week for one egg but without those injections i make no eggs

The Femara was two little tan pills for 5 nights, then the Follistim was 150 units every other night for 4x.
It seems like what is the point of an IUI when I make an egg alone on my own and can literally pinpoint O? For the 9 cycles we tried on our own I had great charts, get a happy faces and feel O pain. DH has no issues. So for a cycle like this I would think doing it on my own would produce the same results.
And I would LOVE to just do IVF, but I have to wait until January when I switch insurace bc I stupidly switched to DH's insurace when we got married bc I pay for mine via work but his is free. Obviously I wasn't thinking about insurance in terms of fertility then.

Re: I am a little sad and confused
I took Femara and they told me I only had one egg....well, I now have 13mo old boy/girl twins! So, you never know...these docs are not perfect. I was also really sad b/c I thought my chances were low and I, also, wanted twins. GL!!! Try to stay positive!

in the meantime..what about upping the dosages since imo thats not a high dose...compared to what i was on lol
it cant hurt..i mean the worse issue would be cancelling bc you make too many follies kwim?
i would def ask!!!

I would have no problem upping my dose and if I made too many I still wouldn't cancel! I would be like octo-mom and love it.
I spoke with a nuse at Dr. B's office and she said even though I made one egg the meds help make better quality eggs, she often sees successful IUI's from only one egg (although she was probably trying to make me feel better).
If this cycle is a bust then I cannot see Dr. B until January when I will start an IVF, so I will ask my new Doctor about upping me meds.
