I am back...Convention went well and MARDI GRAS ROCKED!!!!!
I arrived in Galveston on Thursday and worked till about 10:30. Then my co-worker and I went to our rooms put on sweats and went to our other co-workers room and just hung out and had a few drinks. We were up till about 3am. Went back to our room and took a 2 hour nap.
Friday started the convention. I had to be down at 5:30am to do registration. What a hectic time. It was great and things ran so smoothly.
We worked till about 8:30pm. Then the FUN began...
The co-worker I was sharing a room with, my other co-worker and the 22 year old who designed the entire website all went to Mardi Gras.
The only bad thing is they close the streets down at midnight and the bars close at 2am. But we partied like it was going out of style. We rolled in at about 3am. Did another 3 hour nap and prepared for the next day.
Saturday we ran around like chickens without a head. It was to a point we were all exhausted. But the minute everything ended at 8pm, caught my second wind. Room mate and I went changed and we hit mardi gras again. It was so cold this time. It was about 30 degrees but that didnt stop us. We partied till about 1am then hung out in our co-workers room till about 3am.
Sunday I had the cruise tour. That was fun. I enjoyed checking out the ship. My co-worker picked me up at the dock and we headed off to the airport. I got home around midnight.
Today I am so sick. I actually started to get sick at convention and never really gave my body a chance to rest. So it beat me up today. I spent all day sleeping. Now I am going to finish unpacking and then go to bed.

I picture Mardi Gras being a big release of the stress they've been through to those in the French Quarter, but everywhere else still devastated.
Hope you feel better soon! I used to get sick after every event - amazing how your body pulls through & keeps it together until the event is over!

Nice to hear things are moving along in NO. I'd like to hear more about the mood--as suggested by another poster above.

Re: I am back...Convention went well and MARDI GRAS ROCKED!!!!!
I was in Galveston, Texas. Each year, more than half a million people gather in the streets of Galveston Island to participate in the largest Mardi Gras celebration in Texas. For 12 days and 11 nights the island is electrified by the sounds of live music, spectacular parades, elaborate masked balls, and flamboyant costumes. This year, Mardi Gras! Galveston will be held February 17-28, 2006. Galveston is about an hour south of Houston. Downtown Galveston along Seawall Ave is where all the action was. The mood there seemed really positive. A lot of people just having fun and drinking.
I have slept so much yesterday and all night I dont know if I'll ever sleep again.
But today is back to work and I am packed with tons of medicine
