I am currently TTC'ing and have a couple of questions....

How long did it take you to get pregnant? and how old were you when you were trying.

I dont want to offend anyone, but I am getting a little down (I have been trying for 3 monts now) and all I keep thinking is that I am 39. I know that it shouldnt be that much of an issue but I cant help thinking about my age.

I was 28 and got pregnant the first month. It was a total shock, since my doctor had told me that it takes most couples 6-8 months.

I was 33 - and got pregnant the first month of using an OPK. This is NOT the norm.

Good luck to you...

I had my first at 31 and it took me more than 8 months. I had a normal pregnancy and everything was fine.

I am PG with #2 and we got PG the first time we said let's go for it!

HUGS, and lots of baby dust.

I am 33 but it took me 14 months to get pregnant. I have heard the older you are the harder it is to get pregnant. Most Dr's say that if you are older and have been trying about 6 months, they will start testing you to see if there is a problem.

Good Luck!!!!!!

Same as me- but I was 29.

ETA: I used an ovulation calendar. It was $13 for the whole year. I would check it out. I think I got it off ivillage.com or google.

I am 33 and it took me 2 months of using an OPK (Ovulation predictor kit) - got pregnant on the second month of using it. You should try those if you havent already - sometimes its just a matter of targeting your prime ovulation days.

Hi I just wanted to also say that since you are over 35 you should consider fertility testing after about 5 months. If you are under 35 they usualy make you wait a year but you dont have to wait. Your OBGYN can start with basic tests and/of if you want you can see an RE (reproductive endochronologist). A lot of us on LIF go to Reproductive Services of New York in either Mineola or Stonybrook. I started going there 3 months ago and got PG on my 2nd IUI. My OBGYN was good and I love her but the RE was able to handle things better because they specialize in infertility and their job is basically to get you PG!

Good luck!

31 first month
I also used OPK's(answer brand)
and a saliva microscope-you can buy them in a drugstore(I used Ovulite) and look for fernlike patterns in your saliva, then BD within 12-36 hrs. BAM! Good luck to you

Re: I am currently TTC'ing and have a couple of questions....

Started at 28 and only TTC for one month...
DONT BE DOWN!!! Sometimes it doesnt work right away and honestly three months is not that long and not time to really start worrying! keep trying!!!! ANd try not to worry just yet... Worrying about it could cause you un-needed stress, which isnt good for your health or the babies. Try to relax and have fun!!!
Good Luck and LOTS OF BABY dust to you!!!! Chat Icon

With this pregnancy I was 34 & we got pregnant on the second try.
I used the Ovulation Calculator to tell me when we should be attempting.
