I am really scared - tomorrow-UPDATE
I am so terrified. I have to have an impacted wisdom tooth taken out tomorrow and I am freaking.
I have to have anasthesia (never had it before, I don't know how I will react) and of course I am scared of the pain afterwards.
And on top of that, I could not put in for a sick day because we cannot schedule sick time ahead of time, and my boss does not approve vacation for ME (thats another story). So I am stressing about calling in sick.
AHH! Someone tell me I will wake up and be alive after this. I have a fear I won't wake up again.
eta: Hi everyone! So I had it done and it was not as bad as I thought. I couldnt have the IV sedation bc the DR couldnt find a vein (always happens with me). So we did the laughing gas (awesome) and novacaine. The thing that freaked me out was the sound of the bone breaking (they were impacted). Then afterwards I was a little woozy. I've been resting the past 2 days and taking my painkillers (nice). I got a note for work since I think the witch boss didnt really believe me  Well, I am glad it's over with. All I have been eating is tomato soup, chocolate shakes and applesauce....

You are going to be JUST FINE. Please dont be scared!
And screw your job, you deserve to be able to have this procedure done without the extra stress worrying about work.

You'll wake up after they're done and ask them when they'll start. You'll be fine. I had impacted wisdom teeth too... just be sure not to turn down the drugs they give you for after. Good Luck!!

As long as your asleep, you'll be fine. Just go home, take some pain meds and go directly to bed. You'll feel some discomfort, but that's about it. You should be fine on friday. Dont worry

trust me, the anestesia is so cool, imho.
you go into a sleep and then you wake up and everything is done, almost like it never happened!
i was scared too when i did it, but you will be just fine. i promise!!!

I was awake so I really can't relate to the anasthesia thing but I remember this.
The anasthesia they give you is not the same as the stuff you'd get in the hospital for major surgery. It really only is sedation. I used to work at a dental office and half the time when you are "asleep" you are actually just highly relaxed. We used to ask the patinets how they were doing and they'd respond to us.
But when you wake up you think you were out cold because the drug causes amnesia- so you don't remember a thing.
You will wake up and be fine!
Take your pain killers before the the numbness wears off and you'lll make it through fine!

I had the same experience. All four done at once, and I was terrified. Before I knew it, I woke up and it was over.
The only problem I had was that my jaw and mouth were kind of numb for the rest of the day, and I kept drooling and not feeling it!

I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth out at once. And I was asleep too! They had to wait because my legs were shaking so bad and my heart rate was going up. I was being such a baby lol. I felt SO stupid when it was all over because it was nothing!!!
Dont worry, it goes so quick! I was in a twilight, so I was in and out. But I felt nothing, and it felt like it was 10 minutes. You will be fine.

it really isn't that bad.
i had all four taken out- and yes, you'll have some pain afterwards, but they'll give you good pain meds and you'll just sleep it off- you'll be alright.

I've got that fear too but let me tell you, getting knocked out is THE BEST!!
It's the only way to go. The only thing was, I woke up crying. I don't know why. The nurse asked me why I was crying and I said, "I don't knooOOOOooowww!"
The other nurse said that was normal. But I think she was just trying to make me feel better.
Don't worry about it. You do have someone to drive you home though, right? Please tell me you do. I don't know if they'll let you drive alone after that.

I was fast asleep- the asthesia they give you for wisdom teeth is really mild so don't worry.
The worst part is after it wears off and before the first viocodin hits. That was not fun but short so don't worry!

I had the same fear. You don't have to be put out. I had two taken out with a local needle (novicaine). But, honestly it wasn't fun. My friends who were put out said it was much better for them.
Good luck...it will be over soon and you will be fine

You will be fine! Its a quick procedure (well, my dh told me it was)...He came with me and then waited in the waiting room.
He said he sat down, opened a magazine read a page or 2 and they came and brought him back in. I was in the "recovery" room. I felt a little dizzy, out of it..Went home, slept the rest of the day.
You will be fine. I was nervous too, but, trust me, your going to be ok.

Don't worry!!! I've had anesthesia for 2 impacted wisdom teeth and both times I went to sleep and woke up like nothing ever happened. The pain afterwards is minimal - more like a little discomfort than actual pain - and absolutely NOTHING compared to the pain you will feel if you don't have the tooth removed. I know because I've dealt with that too. You will wake up and you will be fine. A week from tomorrow you won't even be thinking about it at all!

I had 2 impacted ones removed.
I didnt even take Tylenol, nevermind vicodin or anything.
I was at a dinner party eating steak 2 days later.
You will be fine!!!
