I am so mad!!
We had dinner plans with some friends we haven't seen in a year. They have two kids so we were heading down to there house with Miranda and some other couples were meeting us there as well. One of which had DD that these people had never met before (our friend is dating a divorced dad).
So anyway I am chatting away with out friend who is hosting and she is talking about how stressed she is and how her husband isn't working, etc. Then she was telling me how she went to the doctor and says "Guess what I was diagnosed with today?". I was thinking to myself some of kind depression or something because of all the stress. NOPE!! She has %&)(&*# SHINGLES!!! OMG I didn't know what to do. We had been there 30 minutes at least and Miranda had touched her kids and everything in the house.
I said "Wow shingles is contagious if someone hasn't had chicken pox." Of course she says that her kids have had the vaccine. Great for you but my DD hasn't had it yet. We're waiting to give it when we decide to do the MMR. And what about the child she has never met before.
Yes chicken pox is not the end of the world and yes I realize by not having given DD the vaccine at 1 I opened myself up to the risk, etc. I'm not so much mad that she may or may not get the chicken pox. I am mad that our friend did not have the decency to tell us she had this before we went and to give us the option to go or not. So rude!!!
From what I've read shingles isn't as contagious as chicken pox. With shingles you have to actually touch the liquid, you can't get it from coughing or sneezing. So now I get to watch DD for 2 weeks to see what happens. How fun!

Complete idiot!!!!!!!!! I would've walked out right then and there. Did the others find out too? People are so stupid. 
I know that it's really not too contagious, so please don't worry too much. But she's an idiot!!!!

that's totally inconsiderate. Leo had shingles this summer...dr told me not to let Leo touch Josh and if they share the same shower to clean it after Leo.

i just went thru this with my mom.. she had it and didn't know and my son was actually on her shoulder leaning on the shingles..
my doctor says you need to touch the ooze from the lesion... as long as it's covered and that could only mean a cotton shirt you have nothing to worry about. . it is not airborrne like chicken pox!

The person is not very considerate. She just put everyone in that room at risk if they had not had chicken pox.. Even the adults are now at risk of getting shingles, which i heard is worse for an adult to get than a child to get chicken pox. Why dont people think? Plus you got the holidays coming.. you dont need this.

Very stupid on her part but fro, what I heard it is not contaigious unless the person touches someone. I could be wrong . I know that my uncle came over to my house and didnt tell me he had shingles . Sara and Sammy were both fine

Thanks for all the feedback.
I really debated leaving but we had been there for a little while before she told me so I figured she was already exposed.
It is on her back so it was covered so from what I read and what you all posted it seems like her risk is pretty low. It's just the not knowing for sure that is really annoying.
