I am so upset...coach bag on ebay..UPDATED!
I received this coach bag for Christmas last year ('06) and never used it so I put it on ebay.
The person that purchased it from me on ebay is FLIPPING out on me...I had absolutely no idea that it was fake - it came with everything - the dustbag, the box, the cards, etc....

This is my response:
I don't understand why you are yelling at me and threatening me. I received the bag as a Christmas gift, and never intended to pass it off as authentic when it was a fake (again, I had no idea it was fake as you are claiming.) I apologize that it is, and have no problem at all refunding your payment. Please let me know how you know it is a fake, because I would like to speak to the person that purchased it and gave it to me as a gift.

Update: This is the email she sent me back...is there any validity to it?
SORRY BUT I AM SOO SICK IF WAISTING MY TIME AND MONEY BUYING FAKES THIS IS MY FOURTH THIS MONTH.I CAN TELL THIS IS A FAKE BECAUSE IF THE LEATHER HARDWARE AND STITCHING,IT WAS PROBLY PURCHASED AT INE IF THISE HOME PURSE SHOWS.I WILL BE SENDING THIS BACK TODAY WITH TRACKING.

Thats really annoying, but put yourself in the other person's shoes... they bought a bag from you that you said was authentic.
I'd be ****** if I bought it and would def submitt a claim if I didn't hear back from the seller. Since you replied, hopefully they won't report you. If they do though, I believe you can dispute the claim. Make sure the buyer has evidence it is in fact fake.

The auction ended last week, she received the bag last night, and she sent me that email today (less than an hour ago) - I responded in less than five minutes with the response.
I completely understand she's upset - but I really honestly thought the bag was authentic (still believe it is!) I have no problem refunding the payment, if she sends the bag back.

I think it will be easy to prove it was an honest mistake if you aren't in the business of selling lots of bags.
Ask her if she wants it at a discount, and refund her part of her money.
If not, then I'd definitely ask her to ship the bag back to you before refunding her money.

Agreed - I'm not a power seller, and I hardly EVER sell handbags. It's not new, so it's not like I'm running a business of it.
she paid $66 for it - and she's opened up a claim with paypal. I responded again to the paypal dispute stating that I will gladly refund her the payment (including shipping it back to me) after she's advised how she knows the bag is fake, and ships it back to me.
I just don't understand the YELLING and the threatening...

I'd ask the person who gave it to you if they can explain where they got it, without trying to offend them of course.
For all you know, this buyer could be pulling a switch. Your bag may be an authentic and she happens to have a fake and intends to return the fake to you.
You did the right thing by asking the buyer to explain what makes it a fake.

how does she know that its a fake?
there is a website where you can send pics to and they will authenticate a designer bag for you. I do not know if it costs money and I cant remember the website.
I do think she went a little overboard with her email....I can see if this was the 2nd or 3rd time that she tried to contact you but the first time....too much!

You make such a great point. I'll be sure to check the bag out very carefully - it had a minor scuff on it, which I can recognize easily.
I still don't understand how she "knows" it's a fake. I received the bag from my aunt, with the box, shopping bag, dust-bag, cards, etc. I always purchase from coach...there is absolutely nothing "off" about the bag at all!

I don't see why not. I know alot of places won't authenticate anymore, but I would totally go down and have it checked out anyway. Maybe someone there can help you out.

I wen through the same exact situation last year and I ultimately won. FM for more info. I'm dying to know the buyer's name and if it is the same one. Do not give into her--yet! Hold your ground. These cases take time and she has to prove that the bag is fake--you don't have to prove that it is real.
In my case, the woman filed a claim, I responded and then she must have forgotten to respond back because the case was closed. Then she filed a second claim that she hadn't even received the item. Of course, i had delivery confirmation. We both left each other negs. and that was that. I have done a lot of ebay business since, so the neg didn't scare too many people away. DOn't let her htreaten you!

ITA - i looked at both pics, and it looks very real to me. i shop at coach ALL the time - from those pics, it looks very much like a coach bag.

I'm freakin' out a bit though...I'm looking at her feedback (100%) but all the items she purchases are coach bags! Do you think she's running some type of a bait-switch operation???

it's possible, but it could also be that she buys them on ebay to resell them somewhere else.

You might want to post the link to your Ebay Auction on a site called The Purse Forum. The link I provided is a sub-forum for authenticating Coach items. Although they can only give their opinions and personal experience, they might be able to ease your mind about whether it's real or not. AND if it's a fake, they'll tell you why. Of course this info can't be used to fight an Ebay dispute, but it's better to have that insight at least.
I wouldn't tell the members it's your auction, just post the link to your listing and ask for their opinions on whether it's authentic or not. They might request more photos in order to get a better idea. Do have any additional detailed photos by any chance?
Your buyer is a bit unrealistic. If she was concerned about the authenticity of the bag, she herself should have asked more detailed photos before bidding.

This happened to me with a pair of AUTHENTIC Seven Jeans that I purchased myself at Neiman Marcus. I didn't like the fit, so I sold them on Ebay and the buyer FREAKED out on me and said they were fake...she could tell by the stitching, etc. There wasn't much I could do...she left me negative feedback and I left her negative feedback. It was just an unfortunate transaction.
