I am too nervous to be a mom to a boy
I was on the computer. DH was about to change Jack's diaper, he gets up and starts running away.
All of a sudden I hear the LOUDEST bang I have ever heard. I jump up and his head is on the ceramic tile in the kitchen and his body is on the hardwood floor in the hallway.
My heart literally stopped for a second.
He was screaming so loud. There are no bumps anywhere on his head. Nothing on his body. He started acting normal 5 minutes later.
Then of course it was bedtime. He started to cry as I read him his books (which he NEVER EVER does) and he wouldn't stop. I finally just put him in the crib and he was ok.
Do you think he's ok? Do I have anything to worry about?
The sound is on - on the video monitor but I can't stop staring at it and I really just want to run in there and look at my baby.
I'm in big trouble if this next one's a boy too. I am soooo not cut out for this. I know they are going to get hurt but it def. does not get any easier with each time.

Mine's a weenie, so I'm no help with that, but he didn't vomit or pass out, right? Chris always says ( ) that as long as he didn't vomit or pass out, he will be fine

Re: I am too nervous to be a mom to a boy
Coming from a mom who's son PURPOSELY would bang his head and sometimes have olive size bumps coming out of his forhead, I think Jack is fine. If he started to throw up or seemed lethargic right after than that would be different story.

Re: I am too nervous to be a mom to a boy
Geez!!! My heart stopped for a second reading that!!! Maybe he was crying because he had a headache? When Lily started moving around more, I asked the doctor what I should worry about in terms of falls. She said if the kid doesn't cry, that's a bad sign. So since he cried, I think you'll be ok.
(ps....it's the same with girls...Lily has 2 nice scrapes on her knees from yesterday and fell off the stairs today)

Grace fell down a flight of hardwood stairs when she was a year old. No bumps or bruises but cried like she broke every bone in her body.
Even though she didn't vomit, pass out and her pupils looked fine, I still woke her up every 3 hours or so that night to make sure she was ok

You see, and its my GIRL who leaves my heart skipping a beat every now and then. My boy is so good.
Anyway, I am sure he is fine! I hope you can breathe a little easier.

He's probably fine. Yeah, I think vomiting, passing out, or seeming dizzy or out of it would mean something was off. Maybe it was just kind of traumatic for him and that's why he cried, or maybe he had a bruise somewhere. He'll probably be fine!
Some girls are terrors, so boy or girl, doesn't matter. I think they all take tumbles sooner or later.

I'm sure that he's fine
Lucas took a fall the other day running through the house and my heart skipped a beat. I scooped him up to comfort him and after a few minutes he pushed away and said okay...not sure which broke my heart more...the fall or not needing me to comfort him

Re: I am too nervous to be a mom to a boy
DD is definitely the daredevil in the family. She is going to get hurt much more than DS, I can see it already....
They both fall and hit their heads once in a while. DS fell backwards on his chair at school (we're still not sure how it happened... ). He coincidentally just started a stomach virus that same morning, so he was vomiting after he hit his head. Luckily, the MRI showed that he didn't have a concussion, but that was a scary time.... head injuries with vomiting is usually bad (unless they happen to be two totally unrelated causes....)
