I am worried about how my DS has been eating

He's been doing fine all along and now all of a sudden he only seems to be drinking 2 oz. He will be a month old on Tuesday. He started drinking 3 1/2 bottles and then yesterday he had a 4oz bottle twice, the rest he's been drinking at 3 or 3 1/2. Now it seems like he's been wanting to have less. Yesterday he had 5 feedings (two of them were 4 oz, and 2 were 3 1/2 oz.) After that he stopped. At the fifth one he had only 1oz.!

Today is so so. This morning he had two feedings where he had 3 1/2 oz. For the afternoon he's only had two more feedings where he had 2 oz each, making today's total 11 1/2. He seems a little more fidgety at the bottle lately. I stop to burp him then he'll drink some more but he drinks slower and starts getting fidgety again and squirms around and I know it can't be for another burp. Then he'll fall asleep too at the feeding so we let him sleep, we thought maybe he's really tired today. But then at the next feeding he fell asleep again after two ounces but when we stopped and took the bottle away (cuz he wasn't sucking) he woke up! But he wouldn't take the bottle again. It's starting to take almost an hour to feed him and I don't know how long the milk is good for once you take it out.

Now I don't know what to do cuz his last feeding was 1:10 where he had 2 oz, then he had 1/2 an hour later (cuz he was cranky) I know I probably shouldn't have done that. Now I would think that he'd wake up hungry right now but he won't! I don't know what to do. I called the doctor and he said just make sure the room is not too hot that it's air conditioned cuz of the hot weather. He also asked if he had a fever which he doesn't. So he said to see how he eats for the rest of today and tomorrow and if it doesn't improve to bring him in on Monday. Which I was going to anyway cuz he already had an appointment to get his first shots.

I don't know what to do ladies...I feel like crying

I would not worry too much my son always does this. There are days when he just does not want to eat. Yesterday he had no appetitie at all. Could be teeth could be the weather. Just monitor the diaper and make sure he has wet diapers.

I would agree, some days are what I call Not Hungry Days. I wouldn't worry about it. He will make up for it tomorrow!!!

As long as he keeps wetting them during the day, he should be fine.

I'm concerned that he'll start loosing weight this way. We have to monitor how he eats for the rest of the evening and tomorrow. If it's still the same then there has to be a problem.

What would happen if he did start loosing weight? What could the doctors do?

I don't think the doctors could do anything. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. When my son was a bit smaller he would have a day here and there where he just did not want to eat anything at all...maybe he would have one or two 5 oz bottles in a 24 hour period...when he usually had 5-6 bottles. Usually the next day he would be back to his normal self.

Just see how it goes and go with the flow!
The only thing that is constant with babies is change!

He did a little better last night and this morning. We'll see how he does the rest of the day.

How many feedings should he have a day? He'll be one month on Tuesday

Luka will eat anywhere between 2 & 5 oz at a feeding and he eats every 2 hours sometimes I can get him to go 3 or 4 hours but that is only if we are out or he is napping. If he has 1 or 2 oz. and he is hungry an hour later I give him the food. He never eats the same amount each day ( I actually write down when he eats and how much he eats and I have been doing that since I switched to formula)..
