I asked DH if he knows what our credit score is. He said he doesn't, but that if you check on the score that it lowers???
I find this hard to believe. He said it is logged every time your score is looked up and that it actually lowers the score?

I'm pretty sure this is true. Anytime there is an inquiry into your score, even for your own personal knowledge, your score drops. But I think very minimally.

If you look at it then it doesn't make a difference. Its when several creditors are looking at it around the same time that can hurt your score.

Not true. Checking your OWN credit score does not affect your score.
Many credit inquiries (from lenders, not yourself) may lower your score in certain instances.

No. There have been complaints against them and they sell your information for marketing purposes. You can go directly to the website of the credit reporting agencies I believe.

and they charged my credit card $30
stay away from them- nothing "free" about it

I was told that it does lower it by one point or so. not enough to damage it.

when your credit keeps getting checked, it can lower a few points every time.. that's what makes it hard when people are shopping for cars, houses, etc...

when your credit keeps getting checked, it can lower a few points every time.. that's what makes it hard when people are shopping for cars, houses, etc...
sadly in this current state of the country- 1 or 2 points do matter
you used to be able to call and get a customer bumped up - if you had a 698 - and needed a 700 to quailify for better terms
not anymore

From my understanding the only way to get your true FICO score is through www.myfico.com
The others are not true FICOs.
