My dad needs some job vibes and some prayers. Unfortunately, he is 74 years old and still has to work for financial reasons. There is a lot of age discrimination out there and he is running into it all over the place. He has been out of work almost 5 months now and his unemployment is due to run out very soon. We are carrying my parents as much as we can right now but of course we would make more sacrifices if need be.
He wants to work, but of course the cloud is that he has to work. Also him getting out of the house keeps my mom happy!
So all I'm asking for prayers..job vibes and all the while I'm trying everybody calm and giving him encouragement.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. This is extremely hard for him.
Has he tried Home Depot? I notice that a lot of their employees appear to be retirement age and older. The very nice man who helped me with cabinets at the weekend was an ex-VP of IT at JP Morgan, so I don't think you need to have a trade.

He would love working with people, but he really can't stand on his feet too much. Maybe a corporate office job or a back office job.
There was an article in Newsday about not-for-profits accepting more older applicants than other types of employers. Has you dad looked into that? Just a suggestion...
