I used to write on cakes when I worked at a bakery. Sometimes I would blank out the spelling of some things. I would never ask a customer, but maybe he just blanked out. I often blank out on spelling.

I think its a shame that he couldnt spell the word when thats his job....DH is a horrible speller but that should be a word the Cold Stone workers should know


PS- How was the cake itself? Is it worth the $$$??? I wanted one for my b-day last march but couldnt justify $30 or more for a cake for me and DH

I could go on for decades about how good spelling has become a lost art. Sure, there are people who have disabilities which prevent them from being able to grasp simple phonemic awareness skills. However, the advent of technology has people of today relying on things like spell and grammar checks. That is simply not a good thing. I would still feel the same way if I were not a teacher.

I always felt that good spelling came from exposure to words through reading. Perhaps the youth of today does not read as much as they used to. Video games and computers have replaced literary pastimes on some level.

they should have a list of common phrases put on cakes

also i had a birthday cake from their earlier in the month and we all thought it was great
