I can't believe what I just did
I just registered myself and my husband for our first 5k. 
The part of my mind that is still obese can't believe it. It's like I don't recognize myself anymore but I like it. 
Anyone else register for the Great South Bay 5k / 10k / Half Marathon? It's open to everyone from experienced runners to walkers.
Obese / couch dwelling / embarrassed to take photos with thinner people me, 2010:
Slightly overweight / jogger / learning to like photos with anyone me, 2012:

That's awesome! Maybe by next year I'll be ready for the 10k. Any tips for a first-timer? Do I get a box of donuts at the finish line?

I registered for that race - the 5K. I am doing the couch to 5K program... and I have a hard time believing I'll be ready for a 5K on Oct. 6 (I am SO not a runner or even in shape). But it's helpful to have a goal and I'm sticking with it.
It will be my first race ever... seems like a lot of people on this site are doing it (that's where I heard about it!).
I started running to get in better shape, so I think it's so funny that the race is sponsored by Entenmann's and free baked goods are involved!

I didn't realize it was also a 5k and a 10k.... I didn't train enough for a half this fall but I may do a 5k or 10k!

You look great! I ran that half marathon last year - its a nice area and great course. I may do the 10k (or even 5k) this year since coming off an injury dont think i'll be ready for the half.

Should we write LIF on our numbers or something so we can recognize each other?
I'm glad we registered early, sounds like a really popular race. I wonder if they have to close it to new regis before October.
Seriously though - I'm in for a group LIF picture if anyone else is.

Yea my training isn't top notch either no worries. lol My husband just came home from a jog and said he went 25 minutes no walking for the first time. So I'm even behind HIM and he started after I did.

Thank you Kim! I wear an open-top visor to keep sweat/hair out of my eyes, but do you have a LIF sticker I can put on my shirt?
Does anyone know a good spot to hang out to look for LIF people?
