I could use some advice please. Sleep/feeding question for 9 week old
Hi,
My son is 9 weeks old. He eats about 5 oz every 3 hours. We usally feed him at 8 pm and then he conks out at around 9-9:30. we then try to get another feeding in before we go to bed at 11, and we wake him and he takes about 3 oz. However, I need to start going to bed earlier than 11:30-12 (that is how long it takes him to finish his 11 o'clock bottle). He sleeps until 6 am which is great. So my question, is shoudl we stop waking him and just put him down at 9-9;30 and see if he can sleep till 6 without that last feeding? I am afraid to try becuase I have once and he was up at 4 am which sucked... Any advice on if we are doing the right thing or not? I would llike to have him on a schedule where he goes to bed at a decent hour and sleeps till morning, but I know that is sort of wishful thinking at this point, LOL.
Can any other mommies of babies this age, tell me what tehy are doing. Ava is 3 1/2 and I really don't rememeber having this issue with her. She was sleeping soundly through the night at 6 weeks..
Thanks so much, Denise

My DD is 5 months and still wakes during the night to eat. I think you are very lucky with only one feeding 11am. I consider 6am to be the first feeding of the day.

DD is 5 months and we still do a dreamfeed at 11...she only takes about 2 oz., but I am also afraid to stop.
Why not gradually put less in the bottle over the next couple of weeks and see what happens...

My baby is 3 months and is on the same kind of schedule. I've tried putting him down earlier but then he wakes up earlier because he is hungry. My advice is to keep it the way it is for now. The schedule is not so bad.

thank you all so much, i just wanted to make sure i was not hurting him or affecting him by keeping him up so late..
But do you wake him up to feed hiim, that is what I felt bad about. I guess it seems he can go about 7 hours at night, which I know is a blessing, so I think I will stick to this for now. Thanks for all your help everyone! :)

I think you have a good schedule going. My DS is 9 weeks and I'm up every few hours with him at night. I never wake him for feedings, he has no problem waking me His last feeding is usually around midnight and it can take up to an hour and he's up again usually 3 hours later, then up again around 6 am. His longest stretch at night was 5 hours.
