I DC had formula issues (like milk allergies).....
Did your pediatrican do any tests to see if DC truly had milk allergies or any other issues going on?

No, she just bases it on how she reacts when I eat dairy products.

Re: I DC had formula issues (like milk allergies).....
I insisted on seeing an allergist when DD was reacting to my milk, and then reacting to her formula.
After showing an allergy to dairy and soy, the allergist told me to switch to Alimentum which I did.
The good news is at DD's 1 year appointment they tested her blood for allergies again and she had outgrown them. She drinks whole milk now.

My DS was 6 weeks and they tested his poop. He had blood in his stool. Since then he has been on Alimentum.

We did the stool testing, but the pediatrician wanted me to wait until 8 months to do allergy testing.

We had testing done at the GI specialist...I was the one who wanted to see the GI.

I went straight to my pediatric allergist. My older DD has a confirmed dairy allergy.

Re: I DC had formula issues (like milk allergies).....
My DD had issues too. They checked her stool for blood...it was negative. So they said she didn't have a milk allergy. But she continued to have belly problems. We finally went with Similac Sensitive (it's lactose free) and she's doing great.
Is it possible to have a lactose sensitivity but NOT have a milk allergy?

DD was switched to Alimentum on Friday and still is having poop issues. I was told today by the ped's office to give her 1/2 tspn of Mylanta and that she is too young to be tested for milk allergies. I think I am going to do some research for a pediatric allergist today.
Thank you everyone!

Hey D! Declan has a severe milk allergy and could not even be on alimentum(which stil has some milk protein in it in the form casein) He was put on Nutramigen AA which has been a lifesaver for us. He seems to love it and he is healthy as can be. The Dr did teh poop test at our insistence which did find bloo. Then we took him to a ped allergist where he tested positive for milk, peanut and apple(and pear which is cross reactive with apple)

Thanks Mel. I am going to insist that he check her before he leaves for vacation. She seems to be eating a little better on the alimentum but still screaming. I am assuming that it is because of the lack of any real bowel movement in the last week. Her pediatrician is assuming since the screaming has diminished about 75%, that she is adjusting to the alimentum better. Of course, I am not comfortable with any of it and want to get her next poop checked out.

I'm no expert but from what I've learned allergy can cause constpation, diarrhea, reflux and also skin reactions. I was told by one of my Dr's that the kids that have the gastro issues have the more severe allergies
