I don't post here ever, but my little finch died tonight...UPDATE at bottom!!
My poor little zebra finch Sugar. I wrote a little tribute in my blog. I just found her on the bottom of the cage this evening. She was fine this morning. I miss her SO much already. I seriously feel empty.

Thanks, everyone.  My other finch, Cream, looks so sad and confused. So DH and I are going to get her a new friend so she isn't alone. I left the radio on this morning so it's not so quiet.

Birds don't usually give you signs they are sick; we own many finches (Gouldians, owls...at one point zebras)...it's always heart breaking to find one on the bottom like that especially when they are a pair.
Our owl finch lost his partner (they'd sleep in their nest together every night), and he was calling for her constantly for a week or so after she died.
I think it's a good idea to get another bird asap for the other finch.

Yeah, Cream and Sugar used to snuggle at night. That's what I would say to them each night as I covered their cage. "Okay, girls. Snuggle up!" So as soon as I get home from work, DH and I are going to a bird store that is just up the street from us. Really lucky we have a store so close that has a nice selection of birds.

Hi girls! I updated my blog but figured I'd post here too. Friday night we got a new friend for Cream, and she is so much happier. They are not completely comfortable with each other yet, but I can tell they will be great friends soon. So please meet Coffee and Cream! Their names match their colors, so I don't have to tell you who is who.
