I don't think that this level of exhaustion can be normal

What do I do? I've been anemic in the past and I guess I will be tested for that soon. I am falling behind at work, need to put my head down right at my desk and got nothing done today, except that I answered my phone several times. I threw up today but it was only a small amount. Chat Icon

Unfortunately, I think it's normal for pregnancy.

Hard to deal with, but normal. Especially early on.

It sounds normal Chat Icon . With my first I use to lay down on my bosses couch when he wasn't in (he knew) and just rest my eyes because I was so tired.

Totally normal and it may get worse before it gets better.

Hang in there it will pass.

Re: I don't think that this level of exhaustion can be normal

I don't think there is any way to describe pregnancy exhaustion until you "live" it.

I had been "warned" but man during my 1st trimester... I could have sleep on the floor of the supermarket, my keyboard, under my desk... you name it!!!

Hang in there. It does get better or maybe we just get used to it. Not sure!!!

Re: I don't think that this level of exhaustion can be normal

If I do start to feel better any earlier than the end of the first trimester, I am going to worry myself crazy that something is wrong with the pregnancy.

I have a lot of responsibilities that I cannot seem to take care of right now. I cannot even make a meal beyond microwaving!!!!! People who donlt know I am pregnant are getting annoyed. I don't feel up to doing things like talking on the phone or having lunch with a friend.

Re: I don't think that this level of exhaustion can be normal

Unfortunately it is entirely common. I frequently fell asleep at my desk in the first tri.Chat Icon

It usually gets a lot better in the second triChat Icon

unfortunately it's normal - I remember an episode of Sex and the City when Miranda was in her first trimester and her co-workers thought she was drunk cause she was so sleepy and out of it!

it DOES pass though!Chat Icon

I worried a bit in the beginning too b/c I have had issues with low B12 in the past - but unfortunately I hate to tell you it sounds perfectly normal for the 1st trimester - I was so tired I could barely function and then falling asleep at about 730 at night. It does get better when you hit about 12-13 weeks or so.

Re: I don't think that this level of exhaustion can be normal

It is normal - I used to be anemic but had no anemia during my pregnancy, and even when anemic, I never get tired, never sleep - totally a hyper nut, but this pregnancy has kicked my @ss - I can curl up and fall asleep anywhere!!!!

Re: I don't think that this level of exhaustion can be normal

Totally normal. I didn't have m/s with my pregnancy, but the exhaustion was UNBELIEVABLE for me the first 12-13 weeks. If i made it till 7PM most nights that was an accomplishment. A few times driving home from work at 4:30 i literally was fearful i was going to fall asleep at the wheel and had to pump up the music and sing to keep me awake. My doctors even tested if i was anemic and i was not.

Everyone on these boards said one day you just wake up and it's goes away and I totally did not believe them. Well one day i woke up, went to work and stayed up till 11PM and it was poof gone. Amazing.

Hang in there.....Chat Icon

Re: I don't think that this level of exhaustion can be normal

Just this past week, I have actually been able to stay up. I am 11 1/2 weeks now. The first few weeks were killer. I had to work all day, and go to school at night, but my Lab night, when I didn't get home until 10ish, I was sooooooo wiped as you can imagine. There were days I just stared at my computer wishing I could just sleep. It's hard for anyone to understand unless they have been through it. It DOES get better, hang in there!Chat Icon

I think you just have to make sure that you take your vitamins and eat healthy...I think we're all feeling like we've been thrown to the dogs...at least I do, especially in the evenings.
