I don't understand how people can drive fast in this weather!

I'm not even saying it in a "How stupid" kind of way, I mean - literally, how?

at 3 mph I'm skidding all over the road, and there are people going around me doing 30-50 mph... Even with 4WD, a slippery road is still a slippery road, so how are they doing it?

If anyone read my scare on parenting, right before it happened, a big a s s SUV zoomed right past me up that hill - I have an SUV and still skidded into an accident when I lived in Vermont, so its not accident proof - so how are people doing this? Am I just some spaz??? Chat Icon

Nope, it took me 40 mins to get from Sayville to Patchogue (10 min max drive) I am the slow polk on the road. I wouldnt care if it took me 3 hrs, as long as I got here.

It took me almost an hour to go less than 6 miles. I have a pretty good traction control system on my car and I spent a lot of time fishtailing on the side streets. I made sure to leave a LOT of room between me and the car in front of me.

I don't get it either...I went about 15mph or less the entire way home, and I have a SUV with 4wd.

Re: I don't understand how people can drive fast in this weather!

I drove home going no faster than 25mph the whole way... and w/ a smooth sailing commute it's about 45 mins one way - took me over an hour and half! And I felt bad clogging up the right lane going slow but people were zooming past me! Half the time i couldn't even tell if I was in a lane! Some people just have that "it'll never happen to me" no-fear attitude.... I was stressed the whole way home.
