I'll never say never, so it is possible that I will have another. But it is more likely that this is it for me. I know of maybe 1-2 other people here who plan on having only one, but I figure there are probably more than that. You don't have to give the reason if you don't want to. I am just curious how many of us there are.

Most likely we will just have one of our own, though we may want to adopt when DS is older.

The reason is my age--I had DS at 40. Assuming we could even conceive now, I wouldn't want to risk birth defects due to increasing age. Also, I don't think I'd be up to two under two (or three), which is pretty much what we would have to do.

If I was a few years younger, I would love another, but I am really happy we were able to have DS. We are lucky.

We will probably only have one. I am only 25 & DH is 31, so I won't say never, but probably not.
We have many reasons... I went through bad PPD so I can never see doing that to myself again. That is the main reason... DH is sure that he only wants one... I want to finish up my degree, buy a larger house, send DS to Catholic school. Things that are difficult to do on one salary... Hmmm, all selfish reasons I guess. Maybe if DS requests a sibling I'll consider it.

DH would LOVE to have another child, but realistically he knows (as do I) that we were fortunate to have DD - another child is close to impossible.

DH wants one. I am on the fence about it. I love my small family the way it is. I grew up an only child and things were fine for me. I feel selfish and guilty though if I don't give our son a brother os sister/playmate. DH keeps saying he doesnt want our DS to grow up alone. We still have time though. So time will tell. Does anyne else feel guilty?

I haven't completely ruled it out, but I think I will just have one. I also had DS when I was 40, and I don't think I have it in me to do the whole thing all over again.

I'm happy just having ds, but dh is adamant about having another one, in like 2 or 3 years. He would love to have a dd, (like you get to choose!), i would also, but i had such a bad pregnancy, and difficult recovery from c-section and to be honest, taking care of a baby is hard work as you all know. I don't think i can have the patience in a couple years time to get up all the time in the middle of the night, and deal with a baby and a toddler. It may sound harsh, but i'm being honest. But never say never, I would love to give ds a sibling, so who knows

I always said just one and still sort of feel the same. I have back problems and had a horrible delivery and recovery. DH wants another in a few years so I won't say never. I like the idea of having one more but I'm ooohhhhh so scared.

We will TTC for a #2 but if it does not work, we will both be happy with 1. DH more than me. We feel very fortunate we were able to have DS in the 1st place.

Re: I know it has been asked before--how many people here are probably only going to have one child?

I might not.

First off it took us 2 yrs and IVF to get PG and we cannot afford a full IVF cycle again , so if needed it might not happen.

Second, I was VERY sick during my PG..I had severe hyperemisis with an IV infusion pump for the last 18 weeks and I just honestly dont know if I can ever go through it again. There were days I thought death was easier then being that sick.

It was all soooo worth it thought and I would like to have a nother one. I truley dont want my son to be an only child nor do I want to give up hope of a larger family.

Only God knows...

Thats exactly how I feel - I'm 34, and DH is 44.... Cailen was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing little surprise in our lives. I would love to have another child, but with our finances being exceptionally bad, I wouldn't want to do this unless we could really care for the child. Lets see what another year brings (and then lets see if I get pregnant as easily Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon )

We are only having one. Like Donna, I too had hyperemis and I honestly cannot do it again. I wouldn't be fair to DS, DH or myself.

I love DS to death and I feel that our family is complete nowChat Icon

It depends on if I ever recover from this delivery. I love DS with all my heart and will have to see what God plans for us. He was our Christmas miracle in the first place, so we know we may never have another shot anyway.

We are pretty much in the same category. DH wants more but in all reality we were very lucky that both DS & I came out of it as well as we did. Next time could be very very dangerous for me, so unless the next few GYN appointments go well and everything is OK, we are not getting PG again.
Plus it took us 7 years to get PG with DS, and we are both in our mid 30's now.

Same here. Chat Icon Having another child for me would be risking my life, so Grace will be my only biological child. We are considering adoption in a few years.
