I dont understand that dr....
How could he re-use needles?
but WHY? Why did he do this? Why would anyone re-use a needle?
To save money? How expensive couild needles be?

Re: I dont understand that dr....
But honestly - was he doing it because he is plum insane, or was there some type of cost effectiveness he was considering that he made such an irrational decsision? I'm just trying to wrap my mind around how anyone could possibly ever think that its a good idea!

I Would think in this day and age of rapidly spreading communicable diseases, needles would be fairly cheap.
Back in the 50s, my mother was a lab tech for an allergist and they used to reuse needles. Then again, they didnt have AIDS back then.

Re: I dont understand that dr....
Actually, I believe the needles are somewhat expensive, but still that's absolutely no excuse! You are a doctor buddy! How could somebody do something like that to so many people in this day & agen with all of the diseases. Even if needles are expensive, I'm sure buying new needles would've been cheaper than what that b@stard is going to get sued for.

Re: I dont understand that dr....
He didn't reuse the needles, he reused the syringes. He would discard the needles and use the same syringe for one or more patients. It's just as hazardous and as an M.D. he should have known this. It seems to me that this was just someone trying to save a buck. He should have his licensed revoked.

Re: I dont understand that dr....
Don't the patients or insurance pay for medical supplies? When I get my insurance bill, the doctors charge for everything. I just don't understand how you can put peoples lives in danger like that.

Re: I dont understand that dr....
he didnt reuse needles what he did was he would filll a needle with steroids and injected the pt and then redip the needle in the valve to get more solutions and then reinjection the patient. When he would reinjection the needle in the valve blood cell would contaminate the valve and he was reusing that valve. That is how it spread to pt to patient

According to the news article that I read, it wasn't the needle, He threw that out, but used the same syringe.

My mom is an RN and she said that back then, they did reuse needles like you said, but they used to sterilize them in an autoclave before reusing. Even before AIDS, they knew to do that at least.
That guy is a real piece of work and he should definitely lose his license and get sued for everything he has.
