I feel awful CIO-Update
I swore I would never let DS CIO, but he is 8 months old and can not sleep on his own! he keeps us up all night, doesn't nap, DH are fighting at 4 am bc we are up and tired dealing w/ a screaming kid! I am letting him CIO right now, and it's just so hard It's been almost 15 minutes, I"m thinking when his he going to stop already??!
UPDATE: It took him 21 minutes and he finally fell asleep he has now been sleeping for almost one hour I still feel terrible, he fell asleep hugging his stuffed animal but at least he will wake up happy and well rested

Re: I feel awful CIO
if you want to CIO, you have to really stick with it. and it's hard because even once you have that mastered they can still regress. but if you do stick with it you will be SO happy you did!!
i honestly think that if you can stand it, consider letting DS cry for up to one hour. it took DS 1/2 hour to fall asleep the first night and it was so, so hard to hear him hysterically crying, but he completely slept through that first night and woke up smiling. they truly do not remember.

Re: I feel awful CIO
I thought the CIO technique was more for overnight, not naps, correct?

Re: I feel awful CIO
I am in the same boat but havent started the process yet..my DD has been teething so i am holding out until that painful process is kinda done for a bit, which who knows when, but, my DD decided to wake me 2 times last night and it took me an hour to get her down..she seems to not know how to go back to sleep, i wasnt sure if it was her tooth coming in, but ugh, i feel for you and dread having to do this myself

he is pretty good going to sleep at night bc we have a rock solid routine down. the problem is he wakes in the middle of the night, we really can't do CIO at that point bc there is a baby right upstairs in the same room as him (one month younger actually) and he wakes him up since he cries so loud.
his naps are a nightmare, yesterday we didn't leave the house till 5 pm bc he was in such an awful mood bc he refused to nap!

Not necessarily. It really can be used for both. Some babies go to bed easily for naps, others go easily for bedtime. Once they figure out how to sleep on their own though it basically makes both much easier!
