Re: i feel my DS is kinda learning slow.....
My DD just turned a year and still wont hold her own bottle. With her, its laziness.
Is he on his tummy or sitting on the floor alot? Dont pick him up if you need to leave the room - let him try and follow you. Just do that and he will crawl very quickly!

Neither of my kids held their own bottles. They were just lazy They would old their own zippy cups though. Have you tried that?
If you are concerned about fine and gross motor delays I would speak with your ped and contact EI for an evaluation.

Speak to your ped-how did your DS do on the 9 month check list? He is probably just a little lazy. It's hard to remember when you see other kids doing things early, but every kid learns at their own pace. They all get there eventually

Re: i feel my DS is kinda learning slow.....
My DD is 14 months and does not hold her own bottle when we give her 1 at night. I like to think she feels like "well if they will hold it for me... awesome!"
Also, if memory serves me correctly, I don't believe crawling is a milestone. Some kids do it, others completely skip over crawling and go straight to walking.
If your ped isn't concerned, that's a good sign!

Re: i feel my DS is kinda learning slow.....
My DD just turned a year and just started crawling. She is no where near walking. She just went to the dr. and he was not nervous at all. Said she is lazy b/c her brother does everything for her and she doesn't have to move.

Re: i feel my DS is kinda learning slow.....
First- crawling is not a milestone. Not all kids crawl. Mine crawled around that age maybe a bit earlier and walked around 13-14 months. The feeding himself may just be a learned behavior...try something fun like puffs or cheerios-offer them to him in his exersaucer rather than the highchair. One of my sons held his bottle from about 7 months..the other never liked to so I wouldn't worry about that too much. It couldn't hurt to get an EI evaluation...I'm sure some of the Mom's on here can help with that

Re: i feel my DS is kinda learning slow.....
It took a long time for DS to hold his bottle. DD held it much earlier.
DS never crawled, he walked first. Looks like DD might follow in his footsteps.
As for feeding himself, put him in the highchair with some cheerios in front of him. I bet he'll start trying to feed himself in no time! My DS didn't want to feed himself real food, but he'd feed himself puffs and cheerios.
